It's exactly the same as when it was originally released, and given that these steelbook releases have been (almost) identical repackages of existing boxsets, more fool you for thinking it'd be any different.

I just got an email back from the BBC. The steelbook will contain the correct 50i disk for the main feature and not the old 24p disk.

I have the 3D disc with the 2D version on it. Is there anything wrong with it?

I was gonna say Amazon, but I just tried it and they're not allowing. Although I'm not in U.K. at the moment, I could get it sent to where I currently am (Portugal) and then dispatch it to you?

I've done this for other people elsewhere, just not on Blu-ray.com.

It makes me wonder if I will end up hitting eBay for these **shudder**
Why did Amazon stop shipping to the US?

Zavvi has never failed to get an order to me. They take forever and their prices aren't great, and don't even get me started on the time that two Christmas sweaters for 30 pounds each somehow ended up in my cart and they wouldn't process a refund, but in terms of reliability for getting Doctor Who steels, yeah they've been fine.

There are two possible reason:

copyright issues forced by the movie studios (for DVD/Bluray/UHD) and also Book Copyrights.

Taxes: amazon isn't willing to make more work for the tax-departement.

Amazon US/UK/DE already stopped shipping any kind of medias to Switzerland.

In order for it to be 3D and fit in the Blu-ray specifications (at 1080p), it had to be slowed down to 23.976 from its original 25 frames per second. That's all that's "wrong" with it. All "NuWho" releases have been slowed down to 23.976 in the US, apart from the David Tennant Specials (standalone, the set included with the Limited Edition 1-7 set is slowed to 23.976), the original releases of Series 5 and 6, and the "Part" releases of Series 7. All Blu-ray releases of Series 1-4 are slowed down to 23.976 across the world in order for them to be compatible with both NTSC and PAL territories.

If you want the 25p (50i) version at the original speed, this set (along with the 50th Anniversary Collection Blu-ray set) is the only way to get it.

So it's the same with the Series 7 release that I just received? The original 2013 US release is 23.976 and the steelbook is playing at 25?

The steelbooks are thus:

Series 1-4, The Specials, Series 5 - 24p

Series 6-onwards - 50i
