If you do my condolences.

OLED looks great, and no don't need to look at the Sun on a TV.
I would assume videophiles don’t support Samsung.

We've probably got, like, a decade before microLED becomes a realistic option for the average person. I won't sit around waiting. OLED can be enjoyed right now.

Exactly this. And it’s far from a guarantee that microLED will even look better than OLED when it gets here.

Ah - I hate to burst your bubble but . . . OLED still is not a realistic option for the average person. Not at current prices. And they can't lower the prices because the yield issue still hasn't been dealt with . . . 10 years after the first OLED went on sale.

Vizio 55” OLED is $1099 at bestbuy. At what cost point do you consider OLED is not a realistic option for the average person? It’s not among those B stock $600 specials but at what level isn’t this not cheap enough?

Wal-Mart shoppers don’t count.

When it competes with the same size LCD TV which in this case is less than half the price:

Sony 55" Class X750H 4K LCD Smart TV (Best Buy) = $520.

They sure do buy a lot of TVs: 218 million in 2020. OLED worldwide: 3.8 million

It's arguably to much for average joe because they don't value video quality. And, if they do buy it, they are likely to just ramp the OLED light to 100. My C8 is constantly at 21 for SDR light or dark.

like asking a luxury car to compete with a basic entry level car.

the saying you get what you paid for is said for a reason.

But that is in the eyes of the beholder and the average person doesn't see the benefit of spending twice as much for a TV.

For $1100 he can buy a 75" TV (LG: $799 at BB) and still have enough left over to buy a soundbar.

In the same way spending on a Z9D or Sony's H950 which are LCD TVS.

I'm not sure where this discussion is supposed to go? I'm not begging Mercedes Benz to drop their prices because public.

OLED is a realistic option as are other top tier LCDs. Whether folks want to spend x amount of dollars is another story.

99.999% of OLED haters are those who cannot afford one. Same with Apple haters. Same with anything really. It’s human nature. All they can do is troll OLED threads, because it’s free!

Bad eyes huh, well that explains you recommending $500 60 Hz panel TVs as nice buys.

I love the yearly advice of "wait until next year when xxx comes out".

Here I am with a 2003 tube TV because I keep waiting

If your CRT tube TV is a 20” or a 24” 800 line Sony BVM, then I don’t feel bad for you. You’re not missing out much, if anything. Just size. But in all honesty, get yourself an OLED, what are you waiting for?

You think Joe Public cares? Only if he bought a PS5/Xbox and wants 120Hz. You can't switch that off can you? It's native 120Hz right? So how does that affect disc playback? Soap Opera Effect?

All he sees is a 55" TV for $1100 and a 55" TV for $520. That's an easy decision for him to make. It's the reason why LCD holds 98% of the worldwide market and OLED holds 2%.
