I've had that Paris Hilton song stuck in my head all week after watching it.

Send help.

Just because the movie makes you feel bad does not mean the movie is bad. It wanted you to feel frustrated and upset. Films don’t always need catharsis. How often do we get that in real life? Especially with sexual assault cases. I feel the tone was very true to life.

I don't think it's "hiding behind" anything, and your question is predicated upon me agreeing that what you've said here is factual, but it isn't.

I think it's doing what it needs to in order to be seen, and being generally well-received when it gets its message across. I didn't even know I was going to be seeing it, because it was literally a secret until the film rolled, and I would put good money on a good chunk of that audience not going to see it if they'd known what film it was. And those are probably the people who need to see it the most.

HOWEVER: I also came out of that secret screening feeling very strongly that it was pretty unforgivable that there was no hint of a trigger warning anywhere in the brochures or even before they rolled the film, and I brought that up with the organisers of the festival. I understand exactly why they didn't, but I think that was a major mis-step. Even for me, this was a fairly difficult / upsetting watch at times, because it is *extremely* real in places and it's depressing as hell to be reminded of it... but of course that's exactly the point, isn't it? Those of us with the luxury of living without daily fear of sexual violence tend to live most of our lives in relative obliviousness to it, I suspect, until there's something troubling in the news or whatever, which is forgotten about soon afterwards; the same cannot be assumed of most of the women (and indeed people of other genders who present as feminine) that I know.

Bingo. The frustration was the point. It sets you up for a "HELL YEAH" moment and then... nope. Everything sucks and then you die. Hooray!

Brilliant film. Recommend renting it on Vudu in 4k UHD, which is the best we'll get until the standard Blu-ray which isn't 4k.

Is it a 4K master or a 2K upgrade?

Did the HDR make a major difference from regular HD?

Looks like there's a cover on Target's website. Unfortunately they're going with the placeholder image, it would appear.

It's a black comedy, I was surprised but liked the ending...scorched earth.

Great poster. I feel like that sells a completely different movie, though.

Anything from Universal (which owns Focus), just wait about two weeks. It's the result of their battle with AMC over Trolls 2, which ended with (I believe) a 17-day window being worked out. After that, you'll be able to rent it on PVOD for $19.99 for a couple of months, then physical. I keep seeing a ton of confusion both as to why the theatrical and VOD is staggered, and then why the VOD costs so much, but it's Universal's official pandemic business model.

As this movie has gotten an Oscar nomination, I expect a UK release is imminent. If not I'll stick to importing this release.

I was momentarily confused because I thought I'd missed something! I do get the sense she'll get a nod, though. I'm still waiting for the "home premiere" period to end before I watch -- for some reason, I just can't pay $20 for a rental.
