As most know, I tried going digital but after losing access to paid content I realized it wasn't for me. My 2 source components are my Panasonic UB420 for discs and my ATV4K for everything else. Last edited by bhampton; 01-04-2021 at 01:34 PM. |

Yes that’s is the downfall of the app, so if you have director cut as an extra you won’t be able to view it as well. I also read, can’t verify myself, that the bit rates are lower on the app as well but I’m not sure.

Also, not to derail this thread, but for those who have access to Movies Anywhere (its not available here in Ireland), is it the same case that you have a slightly lesser experience through as on the app, as opposed to accessing through the Apple hardware? Just curious! |

Not having native access to the extras is a pain in the backside, I have a 4th gen model so no 4k and I packed it away when I got my 4k TV with the app installed. I can airplay the extras from my iPad direct to the TV (Samsung) but it's such a bother and doesn't feel as fun... I have recently plugged my Apple TV back into the TV Screen so that I can watch the Lord of the Rings features easier.
Very almost bought a 4k model this weekend but I have a feeling a new model is going to come out by Q2 so I'll just hold off until then. |

Is it possible to search in your library (not the store) on Apple TV? At the moment I'm using the LG TV app, but it doesn't allow me to search my library and if a movie is removed from the store I have to scroll through all of my movies to find it.

Nope, a search only checks the store listings which then matches the store ID’s to your purchase history ID’s.

Are covers cached in a better way? On the TV app it loads ~20-25 covers and after that it takes some time to continue scrolling. So it takes minutes to reach letter Z, if you have hundreds of movies. In iTunes (Windows) it also takes a moment to fetch the movies, but the scrolling isn't stopped - so it's no problem to reach higher letters in seconds. How do you play unlisted movies from your library? Is it the same problem for you or is there some workaround I haven't found yet? |

The only time it may take a little while for the covers to populate is if I switch between my UK & US accounts. Quote:
I do however prefer to use the purchased section of the Movies app for selecting from my library. Last edited by -Gonzo-; 01-08-2021 at 09:49 PM. |

And I would like a customisable library - be able to group a franchise in a playlist or something. I don’t think that would be possible on an AppleTV though. |

Yes!! Just like the Lists feature on Vudu. Sadly the Lists do not work on the Vudu app on the Apple TV. So I have to use the Vudu app on LG TV instead.

The fact they have it on a Vudu app for LG and not on their tvOS app might be because playlist can’t be done on tvOS for some reason. |

Technically, you can create movie playlists with your iTunes movie/tv library, but you have to download each movie/show and access it via home sharing. It makes no sense they can't implement the functionality with movies since they do it with music. |
