It'll take an actual blue moon to occur for Cruise to budge, it'll be purely theatrical but I imagine the wait for home video will be minimal; unless it's delayed again which I wouldn't be surprised if it became an Autumn/Winter 2021 deal.

Make it an in-flight exclusive movie. After all it's a film about planes. Have it be a plane exclusive movie for those travelling.

Sony sold Greyhound to Apple, Paramount sold Lovebirds to Netflix and Coming to America 2 to Amazon.

Doesn’t matter. Paramount has final word on its release, the same way WB had final say on Tenet’s release, even though we all rushed to blame Nolan.

In the end, Skydance, Cruise, and Bruckheimer likely have the final say so about what happens since their production companies bankrolled it and Paramount is just the distributor. Similar to Legendary and WB.

Hopefully they don’t release it in the Danger Zone.

If only they can hold on until I can afford that new 88 inch 1000 nit OLED in a couple of years!

That would be EPIC!

I think WB deferred to Nolan on that one. Yes they had influence over the release strategy - but the go/no go was with Nolan. He does bear responsibility.

It was eventually his call whether they wait or the film is in the theaters and it was his prerogative to eventually push the bottom.

Not only COVID isn't going away, but it's also getting worse again everywhere, this new strain is extra infectious and it's getting out of control. Looks like it's going be 6 months minimum before cinemas are ever going to open

So while Cruise has a lot of say in things, I can see Paramount applying a lot of pressure on him to let it go onto streaming. Ultimately it will have to come down to an agreement from both of them so it won't turn into a messy years-long court battle that neither side want. So it will either end up in streaming by the summer or it's going to be in the can until at least Xmas 2021. And the decision will have to be a joint one
