Yeah like Boruto this series is pretty meh. A second season is not needed as they basically wasted most of the runtime on bad filler episodes. Should have been quality not quantity.

It was obvious they were going for a second season. The pacing was so weird. I don't understand why they waited until the last couple of episodes to get serious with the story. Regardless I'm always excited for more.

Is Yashahime even canon? rumiko doesn't seem to be involved with writing it. could inuyasha fans just pass? I don't want this to ruin the original show if i watch it

Rumiko is involved. She made a comment today regarding the second season announcement. She did the character designs, checks/approves scripts and ideas, etc. This interview is pretty informal too:

Yashahime isn't perfect and there were some episodes where I was frustrated waiting for the story to get moving. Not all of the events from season 1 are wrapped up in these first 24 episodes, keep in mind. A majority of questions are going to be answered in the second season from what I can tell. Initially this was a combination of disappointing and frustrating for me, but now that a second season is confirmed I'm fine with it.

Episode 20 onward is great and sets up a second season nicely. Episode 24 has one of the best fight scenes in both InuYasha and Yashahime combined, no joke, it was incredible.

According to TVTropes:

In a similar production style with Akira Toriyama in Dragon Ball Super, Rumiko Takahashi is heavily involved with outlines and episode scripting process. Unlike Super, however, Takahashi evaluates the script, and if it's good enough, it will be used as an episode. If not, it has to be redone.

At the end of the day, if you don’t like it, you can just ignore it.

The English voice of Hachi, Terry Klassen, returned for Yashahime episode 20.

I believe Totosai is the final Ocean voice actor we're waiting on. Richard Newman has voice acting roles from 2019, chances are good that he will return. Inu no Taishou is sure to be recast after Don Brown did not return to voice Jaken.

Totosai's VA has returned. Inu no Taishou received a new VA as expected but he sounds good.

Looks like Jaken is the only "major" character that got recast.

Have they mentioned anything about Shippo at all? Seem's odd no-one has mentioned him in the show!

Nope Shippo hasn't been mentioned or seen once after his first episode appearance. I can't say I'm disappointed, I've never cared for him.

Same here, just seems weird they haven't mentioned him at all considering he was a main character compared to some of the other returning characters we have seen

Another thing to add to the list for season 2. There's a lot of things that were introduced early on that haven't been touched upon since. Which is where a lot of my frustration for Yashahime came from until we learned about a second season.

Why did the series get a TV-MA rating? The censoring of Mistress Three-Eyes?

Cool to see the series get a TV airing. It makes me nostalgic for the adult swim days of waking up every morning before school to watch InuYasha. I lost so much sleep waiting up to watch it.

Well sometimes the promos are more Censored than what they actually show since Adult Swim airs shows for Teens not just Adults. As for why the TV-MA rating, beats me since I waited all of this time to watch the series so I can watch it on Toonami.

And yeah I remember when the original Inuyasha aired on Saturdays before being on school nights. In 2003, when Adult Swim was replacing Toonami Midnight Run on those school nights, I was staying up pretty late and pretty much got like 3 or 4 hours of sleep each day before school just so I can watch Inuyasha, Trigun, Blue Gender, Lupin The Third Part II, Big O, FLCL, Android Kikaider, Reign The Conqueror, Case Closed, Wolf’s Rain, Blood+, Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc. I watched them all up till about 2007 or so when I graduated from Highschool the previous year.
