But I think Criterion just have streaming rights? Quite a different ball game.

They also have theatrical rights, so it's more than likely that they have the home video rights as well.

As the Janus Films website isn't showing anything for Jackie Chan films outside of Police Story 1 and 2 (and the only Lo Wei-related titles on there are The Big Boss and Fist of Fury), it's unlikely Criterion has theatrical or physical media rights at the moment. Like Drunksnake said, their streaming channel is a completely different ballgame, especially considering how many non-physical-Criterion releases are on there. I think Last Hurrah For Chivalry has also been on there for over two years, and no sign of a US physical release, lol.

Janus Films has a lot of stuff that isn't on their site, and they tend to add stuff to their site either when they have elements for rent (prints, DCPs, etc) or when they are doing a theatrical tour.

So while streaming is a different rights situation (see something like Mulholland Drive, which Janus has theatrical and disc rights, but streaming is with, I think, StudioCanal, or the Bruce Lee movies, Janus has theatrical and disc, while Miramax has the streaming rights,) it is a safe bet that if something is streaming on the Criterion Channel and it opens with both the Janus Films and Criterion logos, they also have theatrical and video rights.

Any news on this one?

Shaw fever has hit but hopefully this town is big enough for some new JC and Sammo releases/announcements too.

We have Armour of God to look forward to but after Millionaires Express is out this month there will be a Sammo shaped hole in my ‘really bloody looking forward to’ list.

Several borrowed cues in this film (added them to IMDb).

There are a few pictures floating around (including Chiang T'ao training in a green area) that suggest some scenes were shot but deleted from most (if not all) releases. There was a rumour that they may have appeared in a version for Mainland China, but I just wonder if anyone knows?

Just added one myself that may also sound familiar to fans of Enter the Fat Dragon (at 4:49 if the video doesn't start there):

I really like the music cue for the escort arriving at the inn. It sounds like it might be from The Sand Pebbles but I'm not sure.

It's been a lot of years since I've seen it but people have been finding a new appreciation for some of the early movies through the new restorations. To kill with intrigue will take some beating at being the worst so far on my reappraisal.

I've already seen this one and hated the first go around, but I'm willing to give it another shot. Hadn't really watched too many kung fu movies at the time so I didn't have a great background on what it was parodying.

I disliked the film decades ago, but I've come to like it in recent times. I'd let people form their own opinions on it… and the Dora the Explorer haircut Jackie has.

The 18 certificate still seems a bit harsh, though.

Lol..it`s only JC movie I have owned was not able to watch completely. After 40-45 mins gave finally up on that wreck and skipped to ~10 mins before end. Seems shipload of people were brought to movie on scenes I missed. Did not return to watch that footage and no regrets. Even weakest american productions are far superior and certainly less irrating.

Its really not that bad tbh, i re-watched it again recently to see if i wanted to double dip on this and whilst its no classic it has some nice moments and charm and its still worth a place in my JC collection, i gave it 6/10.

Glad this is coming out! What do we think is next for 88 films’ Jackie collection? Fearless hyena 2?? I’m guessing they don’t have the rights to his later films.
