No Monster for me. I got the Nordost Silver Screen HDMI cables. It was way overkill for digital interconnect but I wanted them to match my analog interconnects and speaker wire.

Ummm, and unless you've tried upgraded interconnects and wire, don't knock it.

What analogs are you using? Nordost Red Dawns are the best that fit into my budget. I really dig the z banana connectors on the speaker wire - lots of contact. I just went with the same for the analogs because I'm anal that way.

You don't know what he upgraded from and you don't know the quality of his display. The quality of the connectors and contacts, precision in the wire length, twists per inch, among other things can make a difference.

...not with a digital signal. The 1's and 0's either get there or they dont...connectors will not make any difference, twists per inch (explain)?

Visual recall is only slightly less transitory than audio recall. You remember what you saw, but the nuances fade in mere moments just like they do with audio. This is biology and there is nothing that can change it and nobody, no matter how super they think their brains, eyes and ears are have more than a second or so of true recall for these things. The only valid way to compare video is with split screen simultaneous images on the same display, or instant A/B switching on the same display. If the gap in switching is any longer than that, it is too long and invalidates the test. Of course, for the test to remove the placebo effect, it needs to be a blind test or expectations will color the results.

People have way too much faith in their own senses. One neuropsychology or sense and perception class will change that tune forever. You can't change physics, you can't change biology, a $20 sheet of little foil stickers will not improve the audio and video of your digital media, storing them in the freezer will not improve your audio, and hundreds to thousands of dollars in little magic rocks and magic wooden sculptures will not improve your equipments performance just by their presence on or around said equipment.

There are differences in the realm of analog cables, but even there once a certain level of performance is achieved going beyond that is voodoo. That is the area where you really have to research your choice to see if the additional cost is based on real benefit or marketing hype. Digital cables, if they can handle the bandwidth and have proper shielding against interference, they will do the job and all the extra things a company can come up with to add to the price won't make the data get there faster, better, or magically improve how many pores or old acne scars you can see on the actors' faces.

Default Simplicity!!

Friends,

Monster cables are a tremendous rip-off. You are ONLY paying for marketing and consumer apeal (much like Bose). Any good HDMI cable must actually have HDMI imprinted on it so you know it meets HDMI specs. Just go to bluejeanscable.com and buy whatever length you need for example $17.00 for 4 foot cable. If you really want to read specs then check out how the bluejeans cables are made and compare to monster. I have the top of the line Monster M HDMI cable on my PS3 and if I bump it I get crakled sound and messed up picture, monster products are simply overpriced garbage.
Don't believe me take it from the experts check out audioholics.com

I'm w/ you man. I can't see spending thousands of dollars on a/v equipment but then buying the cheapest possible cables I can find to connect everything together. I don't buy the top of the line monster nor do I buy a $2 cable either. Somewhere around the $30-$40 range I pay for my cables. You say waste of money, I say it gives me piece of mind. What's an extra $30 compared to the total cost of the entire system??
