Well doesn't look like a 3d disc is coming as Amazon India only has the standard and 4k version up for preorder.

You'll have to wait for a week or two for the Blu-ray 3D listing.

The same happened for Godzilla vs Kong, the 3D listing came up 2 weeks after the 4K and HD listing came up on Amazon India.

It's all about being patient here. I've sent a message to the guys behind this, and there's no response yet, so that means they're working on it.

Because as of now, cinema halls in India are not showing 3D films until the COVID-19 pandemic is dealt with. So WB will be releasing films on Blu-ray 3D to compensate that.

Yeah, well, you're not alone, I panicked when I found out that 'Godzilla vs Kong' was available only on 4K and HD that time, until we all got the great news that it will be available on Blu-ray 3D 2 weeks later, so... yeah.

'Mortal Kombat' will be releasing tomorrow, April 8, here in the UAE.
Surprisingly, unlike the previous WB 3D films, this one doesn't have any 3D shows.

Just contacted them to bring some 3D shows and continue supporting the 3D format. Hoping for good results.

Also, just FYI, the film will be presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio, even in IMAX with no expanded aspect ratio. Screen Rant said that the film will be in the 4:3 aspect ratio, and producer Todd Garner debunked it, saying the film will be in 2.39:1. Missed opportunity here IMHO.

I disagree. Having a single aspect ratio means everyone watches the film as the filmmakers intend it to be seen and there's no complaints about tight framing or cutting heads off (no pun intended). Yes, we all like the picture to fill our screens, but if they wanted to shoot it for 16x9 displays, they could have done. That was the aspect ratio of the original movie, so I guess they wanted something different for this one.

Thanks for the reply, and I completely agree with what you've said.

I just have one doubt though: Why are films releasing in IMAX if there is no extended aspect ratio? I know, it's kinda dumb of me to ask this, because there are many films released in 'IMAX' without an extended aspect ratio, so what is the point in the end?

No tickets up yet, but unselectable showtimes are starting to appear on Fandango and I don’t see any 3D up yet. Hope that changes, but with A List being reactivated and a fairly quiet April for new releases, I’ll probably go see it in IMAX if nothing 3D appears (if it was out of pocket ticket and no 3D, would do HBO Max, but I really prefer the big screen experience to streaming).

Better picture/sound quality, particularly if you are going to see it in an IMAX with laser screen. I have one IMAX (AMC Kips Bay) which was converted from a scope screen, so actually works great for those movies, might see it there but they don’t have showtimes listed yet.

There are showings now available near me but none of the theaters have 3d. I wonder why? Maybe the conversion was canceled? Seems strange that 3d is advertised on the posters without any showings.

Isn't it releasing on April 23 for you guys? Maybe 3D showings might show up by then.

In the US, Mortal Kombat Reboot is releasing April 16th, 2021. So less than 2 weeks.

The 3D will probably be playing at a theater 2+ hours away from me as with Godzilla vs Kong 3D. That's too far, 4+ hours round trip. But I'm a martial arts and MK fan so I have to see this in theaters one way or another.

This is covered in another thread but suffice it to say that laser Imax are few and far between and therefore you’ll actually get a better quality picture in many other theaters where the projection system is better suited for the size of the screen (FYI larger screens paired with underpowered projectors such as those in most Imax theaters results in a less vivid picture) such as DolbyCinema.

So while I would normally prefer to watch Mortal Kombat 3d on as large a screen as possible—I would not go to an Imax without laser.

Really? It's postponed to April 23, even in India, where it was also gonna release on April 16.

Showtimes for April 23 just went live stateside. Anybody see 3D showtimes? None are showing up in LA County. Although I vaguely recall 3D showtimes for Godzilla Vs Kong only going live a day or two after IMAX and Standard showtimes.

You're right, thanks.

Oh brother, they delay this to no end but only by a week this time thankfully. I wonder what the reason was for just one week.

First January 15, then March 5, then April 16th, now April 23rd. Still better late than never for theaters.

All right, here are some first impressions from the UAE and GCC, which is where the film has released yesterday, and some other countries as well. Reviews are positive so far, so if you're a Mortal Kombat fan, you're gonna love this one.

Cool. That's good to hear. The trailers look promising. The last one I saw was before Godzilla vs Kong, and they said April 16th but that was an older release date trailer.

Looking forward to MK on April 23, 2021.
