Nice art but I can't justify myself buying it again as I already own Scorpion's previous release. I can't imagine this will look any better and it sounds like the alternate version won't be much different other than maybe the opening sequence in color. A great release though for those who don't have it yet. Frustrating for those that bought it previously. I wish there was a loyalty discount for those who bought previous editions of these discs to give some incentive to double-dip.

Does anyone know if this edition is region free like the previous Scorpion editions?

![]() I just checked my disc, as you pointed out, the main feature is the old transfer. The new transfer is in the 'extras' section. It's got a lower bitrate than the old transfer and contains a lossy mono-track... I'll stick with the 2018 Scorpion release. It has high-bitrate video (~30mbs) of the remastered version and a lossless dts-hd ma version of the original mono. (as well as a 5.1 remix for those who wants it). |

Why did MVD even bother reissuing this? Walt said his release sold poorly, something like only 1,200 copies. Disappointingly low numbers to be sure but, overall not too shabby. Still, odd choice for a re-release that now appears to be botched.

How did it sell poorly? Both the limited slip and retail release are sold out and you can't buy them anywhere.

If you have the 2018 re-release there's no reason to buy again (unless you just want the slick packaging).
Here's my comparison of the 2018 Disc versus both of the transfers on the new disc. https://cinapse.co/the-house-on-soro...s-7216c4e4b530 But if you want the movie and don't already own it, I wouldn't dissuade you from picking it up. It's worth owning even if the transfer is not great. |

![]() It definitely would have been better if MVD would have used the "Re-timed Pre-Credit Sequence" as the main feature encode. The audio on the MVD is also unfortunately a slight downgrade, 16-bit vs. 24-bit. |
