Releases of Indian movies on physical media has been dead for some time. The last Indian BR to come out was for a Hindi movie “War” released in December of 2019. S. S. Rajamouli’s own blockbusters Baahubali-1 and 2 were never released in India in their original language Telugu. Their dubbed version in Hindi and Malayalam did get BRs. Their Telugu versions got released in Germany and Japan. The last Telugu movie which got a Blu-ray release in India was “1 Nenokkadine” and it came out in June of 2016. Digital rights for all Indian movies are being sold to streaming services for huge sums. RRR already has been sold to Netflix and Zee5. You can talk about Indian 3D movies but the only chance of getting them on Blu-rays or a 3D Blu-rays is from some overseas country. 3D Version of Baahubali-1(Hindi) has been available on YouTube for years. Rajamouli actually did some clips in 360 degrees. The following one is the most interesting one in which he welcomes you to Baahubali-2’s set and you get to meet the main actors. |

Looks like one of my theaters (a Cinemark) is showing the new Indian cricket biopic movie, 83, in 3D. Anyone else have it playing in 3D near them & seen it yet? Assuming it probably won’t be getting an at home 3D release, seeing as it’s an Indian movie (because there’s been other 3D Indian movies that have yet to see 3D Blu-Ray releases)

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=338212 This post and the replies will be moved to the above thread. Great to hear the 3D version is playing in some theatres in the US as well. Since the film is distributed by Reliance Entertainment, there is a slight chance for a Blu-ray release in India, but in the end, it's up to the producers and distributors to release the 3D version on home media. |

I know the Akshay Kumar movie, BellBottom, got a 3D release when it came out a few months ago. Don’t think it played in 3D outside of India though

Watched “83” (Hindi) in 3D a WEEK ago (I’m too late posting this because college made me too busy), conversion by DNEG and a new company called View D. While the film during the non-action sequences features some really good depth and it gives you the feeling that you are truly in the scene (only for the non-action scenes though), the 3D is quite underwhelming overall. There were also some ghosting or double-image issues during the on-field scenes.
There are SO MANY shots that would have been a treat for the eyes in 3D but they just miss the opportunities for pop-outs. Along with that some questionable editing doesn’t help the 3D to shine. For example there’s a shot where the batter throws the bat at the camera after getting hit by the ball, but the scene is cut short and you don’t get to see the bat pop out of the screen. What’s infuriating is that the same shot is there in the trailer but it’s longer than in the actual film with the bat almost close to the camera, and that would have been great in 3D. But nope, we get an inferior version instead. Also, there are some shots where the batter hits the ball and the ball is rolling towards the camera, and you would expect the ball to come to life in 3D, but NOPE, it just speeds past you and it’s not effective. A batter hits a 6 (in baseball that would be a home run, I guess…?) and again, the ball just passes by the camera, thus no pop-out, no satisfaction. It feels the same as watching a cricket match on TV in simulated 3D. Anyway since Disney kinda has its hands all over this film, it looks like there won’t be a 3D Blu-ray for this film, unless Reliance Entertainment thinks about the 3D version and decides to put it out on 3D Blu-ray. But to be honest this is not a memorable or great 3D experience like you want it to be. However it’s still (slightly) better than the 2D version lol. It just feels like the 3D conversion was a last-minute decision to try and bring back people to the cinemas, without any life or any effort put into it. |

Like RitwikKN2002 said: ![]() Unfortunately if you can't get to see an Indian film in 3D theatrically you'll probably never be able to see it in 3D. They just don't ever seem to make it out onto 3D Blu-ray. |

I'm two days late (thanks college) but RRR has been released in 3D worldwide on March 25, and in the US on March 24.
The list of US theatres showing the 3D version: The film has been released in many languages, but try watching the original Telugu version in RealD 3D. ![]() I have just come back after watching RRR in 3D, and this film is a treat for 3D fans. This film should be watched in 3D alone. Watching this in 2D is a massive downgrade. So many fun 3D moments and pop-outs throughout, you get to see guns, bullets, arrows, various elements like water, dust, bricks etc. popping out and whatnot. As for the actual film, this film is completely bonkers. It requires you to switch off your brain and immerse yourself in the world created in the film. The 3D makes this film worth the price of admission and I'm glad I got to watch this in 3D, because I would be mad at myself for wasting my time and money if it was only shown in 2D. I had a great time watching this purely because of the 3D. Also this film is pretty long, it's 3 hours and 2 minutes long like Avengers: Endgame, but there is an interval or break mid-way, and if the MPA rated Indian films (but they don't), this would be rated R, it's got strong violence with scenes of torture, blood and gore, and some language. This film is not really meant to be watched by children but in India it's got a UA certificate (PG-13), so children are allowed to watch this lol. I'm also hoping we get a 3D Blu-ray for this film, because we all know that watching the 3D version at home can be much more better than in cinemas, so fingers crossed for that. If this film is available in 3D at your nearest theatres, go check it out. It's a treat for 3D fans and guarantees a fun time, if you don't pay attention to the unrealistic action sequences, physics and some plot holes and whatnot. |

Well thank you for posting this! I got all excited. Unfortunately the closest theater is 2 hrs away AND only showing a single 130pm daily show until Thursday. My overlords wont let me skip half the day...

No 3D screenings of RRR anywhere near me unfortunately, looks like the UK gets stuck with the 2D version, a real shame given that there's no way this will come out on 3D Blu-ray.

OK thanks. I've got a copy of Ra.One coming. Might not be my cup of tea but I'm open to trying a Bollywood movie :P I just hope no singing and dancing in it... I can't stand musicals... Unless Trey Parker makes them...
