Hoffman telling Pidgeon's customers in the bookstore that his play is about the "quest for purity" as a truck loudly goes over a pothole in the background got a huuuge laugh in the theater. Hell, his picture on the book jacket alone got a huge laugh. Very funny movie.

That pothole is one of the many joys of this film. From the get go with that opening picturesque shot of the town and then..."chunk, chunk!" I was dying from laughter for the rest of the film. One of my all time favorite screenplays.

The only downside to anything Mamet is he insists on putting his wife in every movie, who is one of the worst actresses I've seen in major motion pictures.

She was so wonderful in State and Main. One of the highlights of the movie.
