It will definitely happen, it's just a matter of when.
For now it just seems Sony is obsessed with remastering shows in 4K with HDR for streaming purposes. They've done Seinfeld, Party of Five and Dawson's Creek - possibly working on even more.

No other studio to my knowledge is doing this (with the exception of crazy popular stuff like Game of Thrones)

I wish they would release the dozen 4k with wide gamut colors episodes as a holiday gift set this December.

I saw them in the theater and they blew the blu-rays beyond out of the water, especially the colors, but just everything.

I believe that Seinfeld was actually remastered at Warner Bros. MPI, through their ownership of Castle Rock. I saw a post on Instagram showing the reels at WB's facility a couple of months back.

Is this true? Is the series streaming in 4K on Max?
The service is not available in my country, so I can't check.

Not true. I've checked out Friends and Big Bang and both are still HD. Other shows that used to be HD on HBO Max like "The Gilded Age" and "Just Like That..." are 4K DV on Max now, but not Friends or Big Bang.

I couldn't care less about this show. Still annoys me that Will & Grace never got the BD treatment. Obviously it will not make it to 4k!

The promised Buffy BD set never happened so I guess 4K would be a way to make up for it.

We didn't get a 4K of Sex and the City, despite being Dolby Vision + Atmos on Max.
Euphoria still only had a DVD release and that was a more modern show.

As I said, it would have to be a Game of Thrones/Westworld/The Last of Us type of hit to be in 4K UHD. And I think Friends would probably fill that spot.

Still, we need more TV series in 4K UHD. And I would lose my mind if we get The Raccoons of all shows in 4K UHD before Breaking Bad and Euphoria.
Seriously, they have a 4K restoration of The Raccoons right now on Crave in Canada (too bad it has a poor framerate, cropped to 16:9, and has heavy compression making the show look like it was DNR'd Q-Tec style, and it's 1080p-only), and they are planning a Blu-ray release, so a 4K UHD is not out of the question.
