I find Uncharted hard, I got killed TWICE on the first enemies encounter....on EASY mode I deleted the mode right away

So it's not about being a veteran or new gamer, it's about your preference, interest, natural skills and attitude.

In general, I find first person view is hard and very dis-orienting, and I very much prefer third person view. Also my interest is in fantasy and melee-combat action instead of gun-based action.

The topic creator may share similar interests as me, so TC please give Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Devil May Cry 4 a try

I thought Uncharted was a third person shooter. I am not much of a fan of FPS either.

Uncharted or Heavenly Sword...I think I died like twice total in Heavenly Sword (cept for some difficulty at the end)

Uncharted is simply amazing, I have yet to go back and beat it though (haven't had a lot of time on my hands)

It is third person...but third person games on a console are great.

I'm an FPS fan...but not on consoles, I can't handle having a controller for it, I need a mouse and keyboard

Default You Guys Rock......

Hi All,

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all who posted. It's amazing to have such great talent and resources in this forum. You guys are AMAZING

I read thru all the posts and think I will go with the following 2 games.

1) Uncharted

2) Heavenly Sword

One last question, I would like to also buy a racing/car game. Would you guys help me and tell me which of the 5 that are on the market would be the best?

Thanks again for directing me on the right path.

Ciao.

Ridge Racer 7 = arcade style, very fun, very fast.
Need For Speed Prostreet = Very very very fast, not very enjoyable... to me anyways.
Stuntman Ignition = Not exactly racing in the conventional sense, but still a lot of fun. Basically, you are a Hollywood stunt driver. You have a bunch of courses laid out through which you have to complete the shot to the director's satisfaction. There are explosions, cat crashes, fire, etc. I find it quite addictive at times.

Other than these, nothing else comes to mind as far as racing. Until the next Gran Turismo is released, these are my recommendations.

I'm a long-time gamer... been playing since the early 80's... but I'm not "hardcore" or anything. Definitely casual. I very much prefer RTS games on PC as my absolutely favorite (Command & Conquer rocks my socks), but as a new PS3 owner myself (having had a PS1, N64, PS2, Xbox and X360 in the past), I'd recommend these games that either I or my kids love:
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Resistance: Fall of Man
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
  • Pain (Playstation Network)
  • Calling All Cars (PSN)
  • Pixeljunk Monsters (PSN)
  • High Velocity Bowling (PSN)

You've waited this long to start gaming. My recommendation would be to wait just a bit longer and get the full version of Gran Turismo 5 (NOT Prologue) when it releases (hopefully late this year).

If you're not looking for a full blown racing sim and want something more approachable and arcade-like, Motorstorm isn't a bad pick, either.

Burnout Paradise. It gets my vote because you have the option of doing the things at your pace while you roam in the city. Awesome online and 60fps graphics.

I myself was in the OP shoes I spent what seems quite a bit now for games that were recommended to me and found them not appealing thus not completely satisfying. So my suggestion is to download demos from ps3. Then I realized how much I enjoyed folklore with the sixaxis playing movement sensor. I ,now, check first the demos before purchasing or considering any games. I found out that gran turismo will be a definite buy for me. I found virtual tennis pretty entertaining, you get to share the game with someone else.

I got Call of Duty as my only PS3 game, and it's pretty fun for me, being a non-gamer.
