I would agree…..until I saw the new Spiderman trailer. First thing I’ve been excited about from the MCU since Endgame, not only because the movie looks good but because of the multitude of options it opens up with the multiverse!

It's gonna be a crazy ride.

And just wait until we get the X-Men and Fantastic Four back

I'm confused about that one, as it is bringing us back to the "era of good feelings" for filmed Spiderman--the mid 2000s--but it's not going all-in on it?

Coincidentally, that was also the last time the X-Men and F4 had huge hype. Maybe the MCU can reboot X-Men (note to Disney: do not re-re-redo Dark Phoenix) well, but if the Fantastic 4 probably just cannot be made nowadays, not unless the Invisible Woman is invisible the entire time or something.

That's why, even though they're going to be lower key, I'm more keen on minor stories in the epilogue like SC: 10 Rings, because they can keep the story going forward without needing to invoke any multiverse shenanigans/chicanery.

I'm thinking I'd rather see SC fight some low-threat kung fu baddies in a story going forward than see new Spiderman fight old Doc Oc, because if we're telling a story "going back" then I expect Marvel to be all "People liked Thanos, so let's bring him back! Who cares that he's dead, in the Multiverse he ain't!" Akin to how Star Trek always brings in The Borg when the fan interest is flagging.

I thought the first Thor was very average, pretty meh. Captain Marvel was the same way too. After Endgame, I am not really excited for anything Marvel, except for maybe Spider-man. Nobody wants to see any super hero movies with me anymore. I think they are just burned out on them and I think maybe the general movie going population might be too. The popularity of things come and go.

Yeah, I mean, if only there was some kind of barometer that told us anything about what the general moviegoing population wants to watch...

Everything we've seen so far as been the aftermath of Endgame. Everything has been built up to or about that movie. There's currently no known plan for the next big event and we're back to basics with the introduction of new hero's.

When Iron Man teased the Avengers it was something that was unexpected and exciting and they quickly followed up with teasing Thanos and the Infinity Stones and for 23 movies over ten years it built to that.

It's now a post-Infinity Saga that is missing the excitement that came with the build up of what was to come. I'm sure once things start happening, it'll start to come back, but for now, it's simply lacking.

The real question IMO is if the more casual fans of the series will continue along or stop now that Infinity Saga is over and it's getting more time consuming to keep track of.

I don't know what to say... From where I'm sitting, there has never been a more exciting time to be following the MCU. First of, we're getting 3 new movies in the space of six months or so, assuming there are no further delays. We've just had the first two live-action series dealing with the post-blip. And the first animated series is now under way, and giving us a very exciting peek into what the Multiverse will bring.

And, more importantly, we've just had our first look at who will apparently be the next two major super-villains, both played by extremely talented actors, and without the help of CG character creation this time.

Honestly, I could hardly be more excited about everything that is to come.

Can't be reunions, because so many characters are dead, or their actors claim they have left the role?

3 new movies or 3,000 new movies doesn't matter if they're not generating hype, which these aren't. Even China isn't hype for SC

Perhaps SC can work if it stands alone from the MCU? A point was raised in the culture of "why should I care about some guy who knows Kung Fu when we dealt with a guy who could have obliterated all life with a snap?" and the best answer I'm finding to that question is to not ask it of the audience.

Kinda like what the "Black Widow + Hawkeye and their adventures in Budapest" film, that the fans wanted and the MCU set up, that we didn't get would have been. Y'know, the one that our pal Perlmutter would've made if Disney hadn't told him to not let the door of the MCU hitcha where the Good Lord splitcha

Or, to pick an example that did release theatrically, what The Wasp and Ant-Man were.

You've made a lot of dubious statements, but this one really takes the cake. Why would China be hyped for a movie that doesn't even have a permit and might not get a permit anytime soon?

Because you can be hyped for a movie even if that movie isn't set for a release yet. People were hyped for the first Avengers before it was ever filmed. Just like the hype for Infinity War and Endgame began building from the moment they were announced.

Simply having a full schedule doesn't equate hype. It's just a studio trying to draw the audience in with what's the come. And right now, the audience doesn't know what's to come or even if they will care about the characters that will play major roles in it. Cast the wrong actor and you have a major character that people simply don't get invested in.

Here's hoping the Japan 3D release of Black Widow makes it more likely that we can eventually remove the 'no 3D BluRay' tag from this thread.

3D disc or no, I'm still very much looking forward to seeing this in 3D 4DX next weekend.

Black Widow 3D's Japanese release must be Disney testing the waters on such a price point for future titles. If it sells well, the rest of Phase 4 will follow.

I initially thought the same but if they're only selling the 3D version in a set with the 4K disc, and there is no option to buy the 4K disc without the 3D version (which I think is the case), how will they know what proportion of the sales are down to the inclusion of the 3D disc?

By the proportion of international buyers. Who would import MovieNEX for the 4K disc? Every international market has a local 4K release at half the price. Anyone who imports MovieNEX is clearly importing for the 3D disc.

Well that's true. I always thought it was odd how Ralph Breaks the Internet was Japan only but then Disney resumed the production of 3D discs outside Japan thereafter (at least outside the US).
