Safdies' have a great relationship with Criterion, that's probably how they managed to get this from A24. I hope they can get more A24 stuff though.

Blu ray already has a much smaller share than DVD, but much bigger than 4K which is never going to get bigger.

Criterion sells more Blu rays than DVD’s

I can drive down the street and buy a blu ray of Uncut Gems today.

You don’t know that the 4K share is not growing. Every major, minor and mid level physical media company has already endorsed UHD.

It’s going to take more then special features to convince people to double dip for something already available

Is this part of the Netflix deal? It’s was distributed by them internationally and labelled as Netflix Original outside of US

This was a great one time watch [well maybe the final scene]

I don't think I'll ever buy it on bluray or 4K . I did buy it on digital when FandangoNow had that Golden Globes sale just to watch it and it was money well spent.

People have dismissed Adam Sandler as a one trick pony and he proves he isn't.

Want to see a normal Adam Sandler? Watch Spanglish, he was great in that film.

I actually thought that too after seeing it in theaters. It probably stressed me out more than any other film I've seen, but after 2 years or so, I just watched it again, and loved it as much. Still stressful as hell, but I can see it having solid replay-value personally, just with ample space in between.

You nailed it! I felt stressed the entire film. Maybe I'll give it another watch.

That whole family dynamic was crazy.

Interesting. How many other A24 titles that belong to Lionsgate for home video have been licensed out? I know it's not many. I figured A24 would simply start releasing discs themselves like they did with Krisha, and the Midsommar director's cut. I hope this trend continues.

Depends on the terms of the license. Lionsgate have done a few A24 4Ks - The VVitch, Ex Machina, Hereditary - and another released directly by A24 to their website (Midsommar).

No but it would be nice if it could secure a UK release that way.

I really didn’t understand why this wasn’t released in 4K initially, but to just repackaging it for Criterion in the same format with a few added special features is quite the shame.

Just when rumors were breaking that Criterion might be doing 4Ks and then they go and release Uncut Gems on a 1080p disc again where it's already 4K on digital and has most of these supplements on there as well.

Lionsgate disc will have superior compression, too. Less HD extras all on one disc.

Good thing I only spent $5.99 on the Blu, and got most of that back by selling the digital copy.

Sandler managed to be in 2 Criterion movies. Consequently, those are his 2 best.
