Yep there's no guarantee that Arrow will be able to license the new film in both territories. With Blade of the Immortal they could only get it for the UK. Why sit on a title for another year and make fans wait? And at $64.99 you're paying the same price as the Daimajin trilogy, it's like we're getting the Miike film for free.

This was my first ever DiabolikDVD order. I really really did not want to pay for this right now as my bank account has taken way too many hits in the past week, but I just don't want to mess around with Amazon. While Yokai isn't as big as Gamera and Daimajin - those already had Blu releases in the US (even if the number of people who did not upgrade from Mill Creek is pretty minor).

Oh it's definately a good decision on their part to include it, honestly I just didn't want to pay extra for it. If it's the same price then the Daimajin set, then that's great. Who knows, maybe my daughters will enjoy Miike's movie in the next few years.
I'm really excited for the booklet too, i've never read anything about the making of the trilogy. Hopefully they don't devote too much time to the Miike one in it. :P

Pretty much all of the this. Plus, it’s Miike making a kids film with Bunta Sugawara in it! That alone is worth it for the history books.

What’s funny is that only a year before this film was made, Sugawara said that the no one knows how to make a yakuza film anymore, including Miike, yet they soon made a film together. Pretty funny.

Yeah, good decision. I just did the same. You know won't have to deal with any of the stress related issues that might have occurred if you ordered from Amazon. You can sit back and relax now, and just wait for it to arrive.

Okay, you're right, this makes sense. I rescind my previous statement about the inclusion of Miike's film. I simply didn't want to pay for it, but at $65 it really doesn't make a difference anyway.

Cool, can't wait to get this.

I can't wait to find out the price...64.99 is too much.

Good decision, my friend. You'll find Jesse (DiabolikDVD's main man) to be an exceptionally reliable source for this type of stuff. Unless Arrow delays the release, you'll be getting your set one to two weeks before the official release date, and it'll be wrapped up and snuggled in a box as if it were a precious little baby.

By the way, I don't know if you saw my posts about the Daimajin set but it's back in stock at Arrow's official website and at Zavvi US. Now would be a good time to order it.

Only Spook Warfare is explicitly mentioned as having a 4k restoration. Did the other 2 get one as well?

Easy order for me, though I do wish there were commentaries. Though I felt that way about the Invisible Man double and then found the booklet and the short interview hit pretty much all the bases.

This looks terrific but, seeing as Arrow just released a Daimajin set with transfers that are already out of date, it's a little concerning that only Spook Warfare is seemingly from a new 4K restoration when Kadokawa has seemingly done 4K restorations of all three.

It’s 45 quid on Arrow’s site, not including postage.

So do I, and at $65 (DiabolikDVD) we're not paying for the Miike film. It's their usual price for these box sets.

I give up. I’m just not even going to try and understand people anymore.

You’d be paying the same price even if it was just the first three. I just… don’t get it anymore.

From James Flower:

"It is indeed just Spook Warfare that's from the new restorations, for tremendously frustrating reasons that defy explanation."
