What's even funnnier is how some less than tech savvy people were telling me how HD DVD was going to win because it had the familiar "DVD" in the title and then they would say "What the hell is a Blu Ray!?".

Boy, I got the last laugh on 1/4/08.

Doesnt matter if the CEO wants to prolong it. If the consumers dont buy it/have no movies to buy... its over. Soooo... its pretty much over, both of those qualifications have shifted drastically with no reason to believe they will shift back...

And the hilarity continues on the other forums:

"When a format (blu ray) that has more DRM, regional encoding, and self-executing exe's embedded in them wins , we all lose.

Hd dvd is best for the consument.Dont get fooled people .Hddvd is really the best deal!"

"Oh wow, by the end of 2008. Such a long long time from now. What happened to all of the fatal predictions that stated within days and weeks?! These open-ended predictions with long lead times usually mean little, so much can happen in 12 months time, both good and bad for the format. The war presses on."

ROTFLMFAO

The story has made the "News" in Home Media Magazine. The amount of Public Relations that Blu-ray is receiving is incredible. Remember PR is better than free advertising, because your product or service is being promoted by usually unbiased/disinterested parties. http://www.homemediamagazine.com/

What's the use of HD-DVD player if only 20% of the movies are being release on that format? Duh!
