If the Vinegar version is missing footage, I'll stick with the MediaBook

Pros: German version is DTS-MA (HD) 24-bit lossless (new VS is reg. 5.1)
Cons: this one's a new remaster from the interpositive

The pics I posted above from VS's site are from the uncut version..so what's missing? Can you bracket it with the "spoiler" tag? If not, I'm sure forum readers can scroll by

Folks are grossly misunderstanding Brad’s comment. He’s saying it’s not “uncut” in the same way you’ll never see Event Horizon “uncut”. Whatever got snipped by the studios for the original release are long gone; what we’re getting has everything your German import has, they simply couldn’t dig up anything extra.

The VS release will have lossless audio. For some reason they never put that info on their product info.

My original-original point was.. there was a cut R-rated version, that took out some very gory shots; director Mulcahy discusses it on the DVD commentary. I was saying, I think *this* edition, the VS one, has it in-tact. You're saying its the same for the German Mediabook version?
I've never see that cut version that's missing those scenes..I've only seen the uncut. First on HBO, then on disc.
So, I don't understand fully your point.
I'm assuming "TheOneWithThePrize" is Brad?
So, again, what footage is 'missing'? How do we know what's missing? And was it ever in the movie to begin with (sounds like it wasn't?)

So apart from the commentary track, this seems like the edition to get!
P.S. Do you know if its the same master used for the German Mediabook, or a "new" (remastered?) one?

Man, I used to rent this from Hollywood Video back in the day. Saw it a few times, and I thought it was pretty all right. Very impressed to see someone polishing it up for the HD format! Strange that they're not including Mulcahy's commentary track from the DVD.

Surprised this has so many fans. Checked it out on Tubi after Vinegar Syndrome’s announcement to refresh my memory since I hadn’t seen it in years and it was just as ridiculous as I remembered it. Another lazy, poorly written, poorly paced late nineties Se7en clone. The gore was pretty good and there were a few well designed set pieces, but I found my head in my hands more than looking at the screen. Full disclosure, I can not and never could stand Christopher Lambert. Something about that guy’s voice/accent is incredibly irritating to me.

In the movie they even say that he's originally from New Orleans and that explains his French-Creole accent, lol

LMAO! Heavens no. It'd be rather difficult finding a Brad in Sweden.

From what was said in the VS thread, the really gory parts were never edited into the final film, so every version of this movie ever seen was 'cut' before it was finished. The Mediabook and the VS edition are the complete at 108 minutes but do not have the gore scenes since they were never put in the film at the editing stage. If you look at DVD Compare, the longest cut on DVD is 107 minutes and 37 seconds, the VS edition is 108, so the DVD's don't have these gore scenes either.

Ok, well, the German Bluray (w/DVD) says running time for
Blu-ray: 99 mins
DVD: 103 mins
I thought it was a PAL discrepancy (104% faster), but they're in 24p (23.976).

Additional wrench, German edition comes w/ deleted scenes and commentary?
