I think Aquaman and WW84 are pretty close in quality. They're definitely both very pretty movies to look at. Ultimately, I think WW84 felt like a story that had action scenes worked into it, while Aquaman felt like action scenes that had a story worked into it. So I give the edge to WW84. It didn't suffer from that modern movie problem of seeming like the story is merely filler designed to get you from one pre-planned action set piece to the next.

I finally saw Aquaman earlier this year and liked it a lot more than I expected to, so much so that I'm now very excited for the next one, but WW84 was flat out friggin' awesome.

Was it? I remember people going bananas over Brandon Routh and his blue lenses, because he had brown eyes and the character does not.

At least with WW they kept her beautiful brown eyes, but the character has blue eyes, so that's already a minus in my book.

I cannot see that in a movie that has as many story problems as WW84. It had the visuals, and was going for a sense of lighthearted fun, but it seems like they filmed a story outline, not a script that had gone through even one revision. It's frustrating, because even a few simple tweaks would make the movie so much better, and address many of the issues that people have with the film (which have been exhaustively detailed elsewhere).

Very few films don't have issues. Aquaman is 64% on RT, WW84 is 58%. I wouldn't rate them that low, but I would rate them that close to each other. And they're both so much better than other recent superhero movies like Shang-Chi and Venom 2, which have much more serious script problems. WW84 is a coherent, logical story, while Shang-Chi is a pointless, garbled mess.
