Is it an actual MOD disc, or just "MOD" as in limited pressing? Does it depend on the retailer?

If you mean any sort of burned discs - no

If you mean small batch pressings (and repeat pressings) - yes. I've yet to hear of retailers getting different type discs and would expect to. I've yet to hear of a 4KUHD-R type disc though I guess they do exist. I also don't think any of these have stuff like Slipcovers and I suspect they have the lower quality artwork type that WA is known for.

There is an argument to be made whether it's officially a Warner Archives. As far as I can see there are no marking/labels to specify it has anything to do with WA, but it is produced/sold/distributed by Allied Vaughn/MovieZyng exactly like the official Warner Archive Collection disc. Feltenstein's group seem to have little to do with the discs directly.

Thanks. My main concern was whether or not it was a burned disc; I've seen a few "MOD" BDs that were burned at some retailers (Amazon) but pressed at others (Bull Moose), in addition to the original WAC DVD-Rs. (Though the one I was thinking of came from Paramount instead of WB.) Just ordered from Amazon.

Warner as far as I'm aware has never had burned BD at all.

In addition Amazon discontinued any of their burning activity a year or two ago.

I'm not sure I've heard of any labels that were pressed at one retailer but burned elsewhere other than a lot of the WA DVDs and maybe the 1st few Paramount items, but even the latter switched to all Pressed discs quickly. All the other labels/studio seem to have Burned only or pressed only discs on an individual title though I admit to not keeping up esp with a lot of the smaller labels

Just a limited pressing. I think Warner knows certain titles will only sell to the truly niche crowd of 4K home media enthusiasts, so they produce very low quantities through WA.

The one I was thinking of was Wonder Boys BD, from Paramount; it has separate listings for burned copies (from Amazon back in the day) vs. pressed ones (my copy from Bull Moose). I wasn't sure if burned UHDBDs even existed, but I was looking at Amazon vs. Bull Moose again for this movie (everyone else appears to be sold out or backordered) and was a bit concerned since it's a WAC product.

Thanks for the added context. I just watched this 4K BD last night. Both sharpness and color were kept pretty subdued. Only some minor HDR highlights here and there. Clearly it was an aesthetic choice. Robert Elswit obviously knows what he is doing, I'd just be curious to learn a bit more about his intentions behind the "look" of this film. I might have expected a slightly more filmic look in line with the early 90s period setting.

Anyway, I thought it was quite a good film overall. Would recommend a 4K BD rent, but I don't think you'd be missing much if you decide to wait for it to return to HBO Max in DV.
