Getting the Arrow next week just as a precaution for any Silence of the Lambs issues. The caps make that disc look as good as a 1080 blu-ray could. I succumb to consumerist pressure, but for this film, it's worth it!

EDIT: Went ahead and got the Arrow with 1 day shipping on Amazon, it had a $3.91 coupon. Ended up being just over $17 after tax.

It’s just great to own this classic, DVD-wise, BD-wise, 4K-wise……or otherwise.

Numbers wise, any reason we should think this will be SDR? They didn’t say HDR so I’m curious, I think we still have two more TBD SDR MGMs to come?

When Kino announced Some Like it Hot, they didn't mention HDR either, but the Insider did confirm it will be later on, so possibly the same thing here.

I never got around to getting the Arrow BD, so a rare case of me holding off and saving a purchase step in the long run.

They've totally proven themselves to be a boutique thats staffed by film enthusiasts who are chiefly concerned with the quality and authenticity of their releases. They aren't just buying up the home video rights to MGMs catalogue purely for profit only...oh no no.

To play on the lyrics of Mr James Brown's Living in America.

Shout Factory, encode to encode, DvD compression everywhere
Kino Lober, on an MGM catalogue overload
Just slide in a Universal Classics deal
When there's no financial destination for proper restorations
And somewhere on the way
Criterion might find out Blu-rays shouldn't be housed on card.
Boutique labels in America

I'm happy with my Arrow release, but this is such a classic film and Jack Lemmon is a national treasure. Let's see how Kino does with the transfer and I'll take things from there.

Will wait, I love my Arrow edition so much. If Arrow were to upgrade it in the UK however..

The Arrow, four years ago, was a brand new 4K transfer.

It's almost certainly the same transfer that will be used for the KL UHD, much like with the Criterion BD of SotL.

The benefit of the KL will (hopefully) be the upgrade to full 4K.

Yeah, I went ahead and got the Arrow. We'll see what happens. I want to have the Arrow just in case KL screws up the audio or encode.

Fixed it.

Day one, and I already have both MGM & Arrow BDs (the latter from the UK but apparently same disc as U.S.)
