The CGI cinematic trailer looks like it'll be a great movie. Can't wait to watch it.

Hopefully the game looks just as good...

I'd be more excited if Quantic Dream wasn't developing it. All I can imagine is having to press square during a quick time event to pull my lightsaber or press circle to defuse the situation. We'll see I guess

Looks like a sick movie, shame the gameplay won’t be anything like that.

Yeah it’s a shame none of what Mav posted will be in the game.

All CG which was made just to build up hype.

I really wish the industry would stop releasing trailers for games more than 12-18 months out.

You don’t need a 3-5 year hype cycle.

Hellblade 2 looks like a good cinematic cutscene game, but how much gameplay is there? I haven't played the first game, but that game is probably a good indicator.

I can imagine this Eclipse SW, released by maybe 2023 24, will be a cinematic game like Star Wars Detroit. That game was neat with the decisions you had to make, but as far as actual gameplay, minimal compared to games where you often control a character directly.

It was a linear back & forth scripted sequence that was showed.

The in-game visuals are identical to what you saw. The first game was set-up this way also in certain sections. The split was around 40/60, latter being Gameplay. What’s amusing to me is Sony’s hype about 3D Audio. This game (Hellblade 2) will trash anything Sony comes up with. True binary 3D Audio always wins.

Quantic Dream struggles to hire for Star Wars Eclipse, release aimed for 2027
Quote:
After the well-received announcement, I reported that sources familiar with Quantic Dream's plans had said that the title was a minimum of at least 3-4 years away.

So why was the game announced so early? It's a strategy that we're increasingly seeing become more common in the industry, with several studios including Bethesda (Elder Scrolls), Rockstar Games (Grand Theft Auto), and Electronic Arts (Star Wars IPs) all making game announcements years before the titles would be released.

The main reason that this strategy has become more prevalent in recent years is because of the huge amount of competition to secure developer talent.

On top of this, Quantic Dream has also suffered from a series of allegations surrounding workplace issues these past couple of years, including sexual harassment allegations and a toxic work culture. This would presumably make the studio even less attractive to work at in the face of all the competition to attract staff.

However, sources close to Quantic Dream have told me that even though the trailer was released to an extremely favourable reception from the wider gaming community - and it certainly does look stunning - it has not had the desired effect of attracting developer talent to the studio.

As a result, Star Wars Eclipse is likely going to be released around 2027-2028.

2028, that is something. That's the eighth full year of the PS5, so I'd be shocked if the project endures for that long considering the situation there. I can see this one being canned if they didn't get the new talents they needed to get it rolling faster.

I think Lucasfilm will just end up bringing the project to another developer.

The complex choices in Detroit AI on PS4 could've been interesting in a Star Wars game here, but I'd be surprised if this eventually happens. 6 years is a really long time to be holding a Star Wars license to make a game for.

That opening trailer was just a CGI movie, so no game play even started yet.

You may be right.

Plus it can morph into an entirely new game if not get scrapped like 1313 or that Amy Henning Star Wars game unfortunately.

Yeah this will definitely be canceled or moved to a new developer; I don’t believe it will see the light of day from the current team.
