I'll chime in here with one more anecdote -- my PS3 runs so quiet I've even left it on (accidentally) overnight only to find it out when I went to play a movie the next day. And it wasn't even slightly hot (after 24 hours).

I would never make this mistake with my projector, my TiVo, or nearly any other device with a fan in it. I'm sure the PS3 has a fan, but I can't hear it even within a foot or two. Dead quiet at all times (even during playing a DVD, upscaled or not).

I have an 11/22/2005 360 and it has never overheated. Fan is really loud though. If you wanna watch the Bourne movies, Matrix trilogy, and play halo or gears of war you must join us... Love my new PS3. Buy one now!

I've left mines on multiple times also and same thing...didn't know until the next day. Not hot either, but then again it is well ventilated.

Got the 60gb and have not had a single problem. Works flawlessly. Easily to best value piece of entertainment equipment I've ever bought!

If this is the case the 60gb we had over here in the UK isn't 100% PS2 compatible but pretty close. At least every game I have tried has worked.

As for fan noise and overheating, well it get's warm as you would expect but provided it is in a well ventilated area you shouldn't have any fan noise. Overheating as far as I am aware is something the PS3 very definitely does not suffer from.
No I was born in DONCASTER but live in Seaton in Devon now but Iam a BIG WEDNESDAY FAN.

one time i was playing cod 4 and i accidently shut the door on my entertainment center when starting the system. so i played the game for a couple of hours then it made this really loud noise i opened the door and it was really hot in there. but that was just me being a retard so its my fault i did that. by the way dont get the fan it just adds lots of unnessesary noise.
