Wow. Would love it if they eventually released every classic Jackie movie here in the US. Then I could get rid of those Fortune Star upscales.

More evidence that the snarky region free comments are not needed every time someone requests a US release of a film, patience always pays off

Not sure what snarky comments you’re referring to, but if it’s aimed at others suggesting people go region free rather than wait for a US release it’s not to force people into buying a region free player, but to encourage support of small companies like 88 Films.

If not for international fan support of businesses like 88 or Arrow, they probably never would have expanded to the states and never given US fans opportunities like this.

Whether or not people want to go region free is their call, but as a fan of films that don’t get love from major studios or are forgotten about, I will always do everything in my power to support the smaller companies who go out of their way to release them wherever they are able.

Completely agree with this and supporting the little guys. And gotta disagree with the "patience always pays off". If this were always true, I could get rid of the 200 or so Region B releases I own that are either completely unavailable on BD in the US or the only newer remaster available.

Oh, I said that on this date everything is available? No. I'm getting closer and closer to having everything I want, so patience is paying off and often does (didnt realize I would have to defend saying always)your list will differ from mine but I guess it doesn't matter since you buy region b titles as well, the world is your oyster.

How do you know what people's intentions are when they make the comments? Yeah, some are trying to be helpful but many are just being jerks about it. I could have bought the Dragons Forever region B release, and I would have been annoyed that it got a US release after the fact, over the years it has paid off for me to be patient, didn't realize I was holding back the smaller companies, if anything the only thing being hurt is my bank account with the 4,000 blus I bought nevermind the thousands of dvds.

In my case I see no reason for a region free player. There are tons of region A releases that I don't own and more stuff coming out all the time. The money I would spend on such a player I'd rather spend on more movies and shows from region A. I also dislike the ratings logos European releases have, though I've imported a few region free things where the price has been a massive difference (bride of re-animator being oop in the US but avaible in the uk, that shyamalan collection from the uk), so i'll deal with the ugly logos a tiny bit.

Also if I had imported all those uk released from 88 films i wouldn't be double dipping for the US releases now. So i'm showing them support now that they're in the us. I've bought all 6 of their shaw films, and will get the other 4 they've announced plus Dragons Forever.

Believe me I totally get it and don’t want to support anyone being a jerk on here. I wasn’t even financially in a position to buy a region free player until 2016, so yeah I would never pressure anyone to do something that maybe they can’t afford or have other reasons for being unable to support.

However, if someone is a fan of something and they want these indie labels to grow, and are in a financially stable place to support them, it is definitely worth supporting them even if you don’t live in their country of origin. Otherwise, releases like this might never happen.

I went region free last September, mostly for kung fu flicks (from Eureka and 88 films). I've bought a ton of them (mostly Eureka), thinking we weren't getting any of them on region A. Seems things are finally changing and if I had waited until now, I probably wouldn't have invested as much in those movies knowing this. Still, Eureka have released such great editions (stuff like the Joseph Kuo set that will probably never get a release here) that it's hard to regret my decision.

We all have our own ways of collecting and consuming content. Some only buy 3D, some obsess over slipcovers, and some only buy releases from their own region. We're all here together on this forum anyway.

But those digital-only folks! C'mon, geeze.

I’ve been region free since my first DVD player in 2001 and I have zero regrets about any of the many imports I’ve purchased over the years. I have nearly all the Eureka and 88 Hong Kong releases and if a version of any of those gets released stateside that looks better or has a bunch of different extras that look tasty I might double dip, or I might not. Conversely, there are many import releases of films that are better than the stateside releases. Freedom is lovely.

I'm glad for those that are region free and importing does help those labels expand in the long run. If others didn't import from Arrow, Indicator, 88 Films, etc, they probably wouldn't have expanded to the US. Every little bit helps.

I simply don't import because I have severe OCD and the rating logos bug me, or other things like the box is not in English. The uniformity helps me. It does bug me when the same people keep telling me to go region free. I respect others choices, and wish others would respect mine.

Either way, outside of a handful of titles, most of the ones I really want are available in the US with more coming every week. Extreme Prejudice was one of my most wanted titles, and while the wait was long, it's finally coming in the US with a ton of new special features.

As for Dragon's Forever, fantastic film and will be buying this, and pretty much any HK films 88 releases in the US.

Someday I might make the plunge into region-free, but for now I want to see how far I can go with just collecting US. It's been working for me so far. But I'm at a point where I have enough movies. I'm trying to be extremely picky with what HK movies I buy, so this growing start for US releases is helping me take it slow and research these titles a little. I haven't seen many, but I've seen enough to know I would enjoy some. Most JC films are a safe choice for me, so I'll be checking this one out.

I went region free with no regrets as I’d personally rather not wait years to see if a movie get a US release. I already own the UK release but will absolutely double dip on the US release to show support for 88s US branch & to hopefully help get more of these films out in the US in the future.

I have not made the jump to 4k yet but over the last couple of years I have picked up a couple of 4k movies if they included an improved blu-ray. I would need both a player and TV if I did go 4k. Might pick this release up to support the cause.

Amazon. ca is still showing this as releasing on August 23.

I know the 4K got pushed back to September, is it safe to assume the Blu-Ray version is pushed back as well?

Amazon is showing the release date as October 18th now. Can’t say I’m surprised since they delayed drive multiple times.
