Earlier posts regarding the restoration of I, THE JURY have been misconstrued by some. We would like to correct any potential misreading and state that 3-D Film Archive was in no way involved in the current restoration of I, THE JURY.

I, THE JURY has been restored by UCLA Film and Television Archive in collaboration with PKL Pictures and Romulus Films. Laboratory services Roundabout Entertainment, The UCLA Digital Lab, Audio Mechanics and Simon Daniel Sound. Special thanks to Connie Elliot, Nicholas Varley and Jonathan C. Woolf.

We do greatly admire the work of The 3-D Film Archive. We have worked with them in the past and will do so in the future, but as of this writing they will not be taking any part nor take any role in our upcoming release of I, THE JURY. Many have waited for I, THE JURY to be restored and released since the inception of home video, and I can say with assurance that fans will be pleased by our upcoming special edition release.

I wonder if they're capable of fixing the vertical misalignment. (You know, that simple but essential fix that I can do on my home computer, but that major releasers other than 3DFA forget about, for example House of Wax and Jaws 3.)

If it turns out that there are vertical alignment issues on the 3D blu-ray that could/should have been fixed that weren’t because of politics you’ll have some explaining to do, specially when no one is criticising the restoration, but it is a well known fact that allot of people in the industry don’t care about fixing said issues as they were in the original product. Me, personally, I care about having the best possible, headache free, viewing at home. So I would suggest you make sure the 3D disc is the best possible master we can get.
We already know that there were alignment problems in the original negative that can be corrected. So it’s your job to make sure they are corrected for the home video version. The industry “know it all” are not the ones buying the disc, we are.

After his best friend and war buddy is mysteriously gunned down, Mike Hammer (Biff Elliot) will stop at nothing to settle the score for the man who sacrificed a limb to save his own life during combat. Along the way, Hammer rides a fine line between gumshoe and a one-man jury, staying two-steps ahead of the law—and trying not to bumped off in the process.

At the time I, the Jury was adapted for the silver screen in 1953, Mickey Spillane was the best-selling mystery writer in the world. Capitalizing on Spillane’s acclaim, producer Victor Saville bought the rights to Jury and tapped screenwriter Harry Essex (Kansas City Confidential) to both write and direct. Saville also secured the services of cinematographer John Alton (Raw Deal, T-Men)—the master of light and shadows—to lense this iconic film noir and famed composer Franz Waxman (Sunset Boulevard, A Place in the Sun) to produce the score.

Wow, the extras are amazing! A commentary by Max Allan Collins is great! I'm a fan of both Collins and Spillane, so I will definitely be picking this up on the day it's released.

My old buddy is going to freak when I see him tomorrow and tell him there's finally a date for this. He's been extremely anxious for the 3D since it was first announced.

He read the book as a teen and saw it in 3D in a cinema on its initial release.

What he also doesn't know yet is that this set includes an unaired Mike Hammer TV pilot starring HIS old buddy, Brian Keith.
