HAHAHAHA!!! That would be hilarious to find out that the remaining Paramount Blu-ray stock has sold better than, or even equally to, their HD DVD stock this whole time since their defection!

Paramount = 0 class at all.
At least Universal has stuck with their side all along. ...and Warner Brothers kept their HD-DVD releases that were already announced on the board. So they certainly took the high road. Paramount, you tick me off! |

So I was interested when they rolled out MTV 2, which was supposed to be nothing but wall-to-wall videos all day long, with a continuous mix of music styles instead of segregating each style on its own show. But my cable provider didn't pick up MTV 2, and by the time I was able to get it several years later it was essentially just a copy of the MTV, with the same non-music tripe filling most of the time. |

Back on topic (in this off-topic thread)...
I think that Paramount will flip very soon, that the stories that indicated that they exercised an out clause in their contract were true. I doubt the out clause let them just immediately switch sides and start trashing HD DVD. It may very well have let them trigger something that would let them out in 30-90 days. If not, they probably still want to ramp up production and be ready to hit the ground running. Personally, I don't care, as long as they start making Blu-ray Discs. They can drop HD DVD or not; it's really irrelevant to me. |

The Paramount 'escape clause' was reported in The Financial Times and in Variety. Neither publication retracted those claims.
Variety said even more: Quote:
They also published denials by the remaining red studios but Variety are clearly happy with the original content of the article as being accurate. So, you're right, don't believe what you read on the internet (AVS, HDD etc.). Instead look for supporting evidence from respected publications like, oh, I don't know... Variety? It seems the red studios have made some kind of new deal with Toshiba - foolishly (yet again) - but this deal cannot be for very much longer. HD DVD is dying before our eyes. At some point - soon - Universal and Paramount will be announcing Blu-ray support. You don't really need any journalist (or web blogger) to tell you that. |

You mean Tom Cruise + UA (of MGM/UA)...
I believe UA is DVD-exclusive, since it operates independently of MGM, similar to New Line's current relationship with Warner. |

One article I read someplace said the same thing I said. Tool-shiba, Paramount and Universal all looking at each other waiting for the other shoe to drop. The studios are saying, but Tool-shiba still makes the players. Tool-shiba is aying, but the studios still support us.
Remember that Chinese CH-DVD player that went no where? That's because the studios blew it off. The behavior of Toshiba tells me they will fight this fight with one studio if they must. As long as they have a studio, they can make hell for blu-ray. Toshiba isn't even about good business anymore. It's become personal. |

Paramount has no class because they didn't go to school. If they attended class they would have known blu was the winner and dud was doomed to fail.
