My copy of "She Creature" and "The Flesh Eaters" shipped today. Looking forward to it!
**Update** Shout Factory did an impressive job getting me my order FAST! Just received my order TODAY! Since there was a sale, I went ahead and picked up "Transformers-the movie" 4K (with poster) for $15.99 and "Survive" Blu Ray for $12.99. It was all shipped in one enormous box! Received my order for She Creature and Flesh eaters today..... She Creature was packaged separately with the poster and labeled: 'SHE CREATURE UHD + POSTER".
Wonder if She Creature was originally supposed to be a UHD? Or are they considering the blu-ray a UHD? |

Watched my copy of "The She-Creature" tonight and it looks very good! There is some (mild) varied print damage present (mostly hairline vertical lines on right side of frame) nothing too distracting. Fine details can now be seen, overall an appreciable upgrade to Blu Ray! Film grain is present and never looks DNR'd to death. The black levels, while not inky are more than adequate! The MST3K episode which featured "She-Creature" included in original 4:3 format.

I watched this last night and had a great time with it. The movie is fun, with a great seaside setting, and reminded me a bit of my all-time fave 50s monster movie I Was a Teenage Werewolf, which I hope will show up on blu ray at some point; Marla English is smoking hot; and the extras are really entertaining, with a funny MST3K that I'd never seen before, plus what is honestly the funniest 'Radio Spot' I've ever heard for a She-Creature/It Conquered the World double-feature and a few advertising stills.

Cannot agree with you more! Can you even imagine being in your 50's Chevy cruising around and hear that laugh riot of a radio ad? Amazing in general to think that these Bug Eyed Monster (Men in rubber suits) captivated teenage audiences and even more so, actually frightened people back then?

Rest assured, the feature film "She-Creature" is presented 1.85:1. It will fill your widescreen monitor (with no visible black letterbox). However, the MST3K edition will indeed have black bars on the left and right (and not zoomed in to fill the screen). Hope that helps!

Double posted from the Scream Factory thread...
![]() Dr. Carlo Lombardi, a carnival sideshow mystic played by Chester Morris, performs age regression hypnosis experiments on his female assistant, Andrea, played by Marla English, in order to summon physical manifestations of the spirits from her past lives. A psychic researcher, played by Lance Fuller, initially dismisses Dr. Lombardi's sessions as mere parlor tricks, but he and the local authorities are at a loss to explain a series of grisly murders in the seaside community that are rumored to have been committed by a prehistoric monster that emerges from the ocean when Andrea is put to sleep. The 1956 American International Pictures sci-fi horror feature, The She-Creature, directed by Edward L. Cahn, draws its inspiration from the supposed age regression accounts that were quite a fad sensation during that decade. Thankfully, the creature design by B movie monster extraordinaire Paul Blaisdell is wondrous enough to distract viewers from the undeniably kitsch aspects of the hypnotism sequences. The first appearance of the titular menace has a genuinely eerie aura, even though the She-Creature becomes less threatening with each subsequent reveal. The engine that drives this 77-minute movie slowly but surely along its path is Marla English, whom you all know from the 1954 film noir, Shield for Murder, and the 1956 film noir, A Strange Adventure. She commands attention during her every moment on the screen, especially when her character learns to resist the evil doctor's mine control. Be on the lookout for the famous dog actor, “Spike”, as the pet of one of the main characters. The following year, Spike would set the bar high for his fellow canine thespians with his memorable performance in Old Yeller. This Scream Factory limited edition Blu-ray features the Mystery Science Theater 3000 airing of The She-Creature as an extra. I actually made it through the entire cacophony of annoying robot voices this time without turning off my television, and I even laughed a time or two. |
