Wouldn’t it be funny if they couldn’t afford the musical Licensing and had to replace all that Queen with something else…

I was almost certain we'd get "Highlander - The Sauce" before this.

Please have the theatrical cut. I can't stand that shot of the flashback before the end of the parking lot fight. Ruins the whole surprise.

I seriously doubt the US cut will ever make another appearance and given the price point of this release I wouldn't be surprised if they just slapped the existing 4k of this on the disc and called it a day. Probably going to port the existing extras too and that'll be it. I wouldn't mind if they surprised us but I just don't see it here.

As far as I understand it that cut was owned by Fox, so is now owned by Disney.

StudioCanal owns the film itself, but they don't have the rights to publish the US Theatrical Cut, just the International and French Theatrical Cuts.

So unless StudioCanal has been able to come to an agreement with Disney we won't be seeing the US Theatrical Cut any time soon.

StudioCanal owns most US distribution rights while Fox has US TV and streaming rights. Confusing thing is Fox's TV/streaming rights are only for the shorter US cut while Canal only puts out the International cut. However, the actual US theatrical version had an earlier version of the final quickening, while the HD version (that currently appears on Cinemax and HBO) is a recut of the old StudioCanal HD master of the International version (with 2nd version of the final quickening) and unique footage being shots of wrestlers in the beginning, Bedshoe spilling his coffee, and Fox logo).

Either way the producers and director have always hated the US theatrical edits so there's no motivation on their end to have it remastered on one of these releases anyway. That's likely the real hang-up as to why it hasn't been put back in circulation.

Fox was just the US theatrical distributor on HIGHLANDER, it's not a situation like LEGEND where they put some real money into it. Fox never even held home video rights to HIGHLANDER here at any time, even after the movie was first released HBO/Cannon (what used to be Thorn EMI) was the label that had VHS rights. I doubt Fox has much "control" over any cut of the film if they don't have home video distribution and never have.

The Amazon product listing in OP seems to have been made unavailable now. Says:

"Actuellement indisponible.

Nous ne savons pas quand cet article sera de nouveau approvisionné ni s'il le sera."

Delayed or cancelled, again?

Both producers are dead (Panzer & Davis), so I'll assume Studio Canal owns it outright and will be at their sole discretion what to do with releasing a 4K edition in the future. I don't know if that ports over to Lionsgate releasing it in the USA, though.

Davis/Panzer Productions still exists as they're run under heirs. StudioCanal only owns Highlander because of the Thorn EMI connection.

The info in the OP is no longer valid, since the product listing it is based on is not active anymore.

Is there currently any other evidence that Highlander 4K BD will be released? Otherwise can someone please move this thread to the wish list section.
