Why can't I just pay like $80-100 to get the complete series & revel in the greatest sit com of all time? Screw Hulu!

Because market research is probably telling those involved that there's no way to change the framing to 16:9 without seriously compromising the original intent (and supposedly we blu-ray aficionados think that's kinda important), while maintaining the 4:3 framing will discourage certain misguided people from making such a purchase because they want to use their whole TV.

It's just the VHS letterbox scenario updated for the 21st century.

Take heart -- the complete series is available on DVD for fifty bucks.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I just wanted to say, I'm *constantly* afflicted with an inability to decide whether I want to buy the DVD set. I want them. I want them *bad*. I really want to just veg out all day and watch Seinfeld special features and listen to commentaries and see the episodes from perspectives I've never seen before. But I don't want to buy it on DVD only to eventually see a Blu-Ray come out! I really would love a Blu-Ray release, yes, in 4:3. Nobody seemed to mind when Twin Peaks was 4:3 on Blu-Ray? It looks fantastic! If it's never coming, though, I should just get the DVD. I dunno whether to buy it or not.
