I do know that both this and the Japanese release are the Bootleg cut.

It doesn't release until 2-11-08 but there maybe info on extras at www.cameroncrowe.com
yeah, I haven't heard anything about else about the extras. I suspect that we'll have to wait for North American release to get Cameron's commentary and the rest of the extras on the Bootleg Cut standard dvd.

thanks

Thanks!

I love music more than movies - am always going to see bands and write/record my own material - so movies about music generally go down well with me which is why I do wonder how this one passed me by.

Looking forward to experiencing it for the first time, and in blu!

Exclamation Get this on B2GOF from mediadis

mediadis running B2GOF that includes titles like Almost Famous, Cinderella Man, Face/Off, Starship Troopers, Air Force One etc. Grabbed 4 Blu-rays for 60 EUR. Not a bad deal considering stateside availability of these titles.

Just bought this title in the deal!!! Thanks for the link.

If you do use Mediadis; It is wise not to use Belgium standard post. It is very slow, and losing packages does happen quite a lot.

That's one of my favorite parts too! Along with Jimmy Fallon as the tool of a new manager. "You've gotta get what you can, WHILE you can. If you think Mick Jagger's gonna be walking around (insert Mick's signature duck-walk here) trying to be a rock star at age 50, you're sadly mistaken!"

Really, it's a GREAT movie. Top 5, easily. I'm looking forward to the day it's released on Blu in the US with all the bootleg extras

Someone on another board claims sendit.com sent their copy out today.
I can''t seem to get sendit.com to accept my U.S. based CC so I will be waiting for Amazon U.K.

really?! I totally disagree. this movie was shot "soft" and will never look razor sharp, but I think it's a nice step up from the U.S. DVD....

Thanks for the info. It's only £9.99 for the extended cut too so it's all good.

It is not the worst, but Almost Famous does not look that great on BD. Soft and hazy in parts is a good description. I love the movie though and the lossless audio is great.

My main complaint about the PQ of Almost Famous is that some scenes have a thin black bar down the left side of the screen (my guess is that it's all the additional scenes for the extended edition). I suspect they used the same HD master as the DVD edition, where this would've been hidden by overscan, but on blu-ray it's most definitely there. I found it kind of distracting, which is a shame because it's a really lovely film.

Also all the extra features and commentaries included on the double-disc DVD (the one with theatrical and extended cuts) are missing from the blu-ray. It's one of the only times I've bought the blu-ray and still kept the DVD!
