Just got this in the mail yesterday from VS Canada and it's wonderful. I'm soo glad I didn't buy the initial release years ago. Beautiful cover art and a nice slip cover that feels silky to the touch. Picture quality is fantastic while I love the amount of extras, especially the interview with Rick Baker and the Director William Sachs.
Speaking of which, Sachs mentions how he Directed the 1980 Sci-fi film Galaxina, starring Dorothy Stratten who was a Playboy model later murdered by her boyfriend and the subject of the 1983 film Star 80. I think that movie would be perfect for Vinegar Syndrome for a 4K release. Just have to say they do amazing work while their 4K release of Sex World, the first 4K movie I bought, was stunning. It was screenshots on this website that convinced me to buy it because of the vibrancy of the colors. I was not disappointed!!!FACT!!! Last edited by Unicron 1986; 08-27-2022 at 09:05 PM. |

PQ is nothing short of incredible (I'm viewing on an LG C1 OLED). There were parts of the film that actually felt 3-D. And those colors! Just breathtaking. I'm going to be looking forward to every 4K double dip from VS from now on. |

Did anybody notice there were two scenes with these huge green/yellow blobs all over the screen? The first time was at the beginning, over the stock footage of the launch, so I assumed it was due to the age of the vintage launch footage they used. But then it happened again right at the end of the film, during one of the final shots - the sky was covered in these huge blobs. But it wasn't stock footage this time. Really odd. Otherwise it looked stellar. I do wonder though - X-Ray had that issue with faint green blobs of chroma noise all over the screen, similar to Kino's Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I wasn't really looking for it as I was enjoying the film, but did this release have any of that going on? |

Hats off to VS! Without them, fun films like this wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of such a stunning, full-blown high-grade 4k uhd release. I was truly excited to add it to the collection. Last edited by DaylightsEnd; 09-17-2022 at 09:12 PM. |

I'm really enjoying this release. Despite some obvious damage and flicker, the PQ is quite stellar for a significant portion of its run-time, considering the source. I had a blast revisiting it. The restoration enjoys incredibly vibrant primaries, stark crisp whites, wonderfully detailed deep blacks, and a pretty solid encode this time around from our friends at VS. This is for certain the best this film will ever look on a home physical media release. It's still a goofy, goopy, nostalgic low-budget sci fi body horror with gobs of fun effects and pacing issues galore. The excellent 4k presentation and clean audio now makes it all the more palatable. Recommended for vintage horror collectors. An instant no-brainer for long-time fans of the film.

Two months later, here I am pulling this little gem out once again, giving it yet another spin on a lazy Saturday. I continue to be amazed at how great VS managed to get a very significant portion of this presentation to look. Many scenes are virtually stunning. Colors are often beautifully vibrant. I'm enjoying the competent, cheeky score more too, as I familiarize myself with this quirky classic to a greater extent.
