Nope. SC screened the 4k in France, but otherwise it's still only rumors.

Thanks, gents. Guess it's another title StudioCanal are dragging their heels on announcing (see also: Peeping Tom and Near Dark), but fingers crossed we'll hear something concrete soon.

And StudioCanal, PLEASE give us a UHD of The Graduate, omg, I'll love you 5ever.

Honestly this is MUCH better than people are saying. I have a feeling the fact that Bret Ratner directed this is automatically coloring peoples opinion somewhat. It’s NOT as good as Manhunter, but the acting is good to great for the most part, which should not surprise considering the cast is incredible, and it’s very entertaining and easy to watch, and sometimes even suspenseful. People in this thread are making it sound like a terrible movie, but definitely give it a chance. If you’ve already seen Manhunter just set your expectations for a more populist remake of a movie from the 80’s that had a much more interesting and defined style.

Haven't revisited this in a while, but I don't think it's bad. Has a great cast at least. I'll probably pick it up. I'd prefer Manhunter though!

It has its moments. Fiennes, Hoffman, and Watson are the standouts. Norton and Keitel are fine. There's too much Hopkins and he plays it too big, likely because that's how Ratner directed him. Personally, I like it better than Manhunter, both as an adaptation and a film. Petersen was the perfect Will Graham though. It's a beautifully shot film, so it should look great in 4K.

Hannibal, the show, is honestly the best adaptation in so many ways.

Yeah, this really isn't a bad film at all. It's pretty well made and has a damn good cast. Watch it and form your own opinion. A lot the criticisms I've seen of the film on this site seem pretty hyperbolic.

And Hannibal Rising is officially in the Hopkins series, with Gaspard Ulliel (RIP) claiming he studied Hopkins and modeled his performance after him, which admittedly doesn’t come across in the performance all that much. IIRC the actor they cast as Hannibal’s father was clearly cast due to his resemblance to Hopkins too.

All in all it’s a very odd series. You have the 3 Hopkins movies. The 4 that were meant to be a series. The 4 Faison movies. Dino de Laurentiis produced 4 of the 5 films but 3 of those 4 films were designed to compliment the 1 he didn’t produce and ignore the first one he did produce. The home video rights have complicated things further.

Sorry, but anybody who doesn't love Manhunter deserves to be cannibalised.

Well, I think I'm better off finding juicier Manhunter haters here in Texas.

I'm surprised Universal didn't release this themselves. Isn't it a pretty big franchise?
