Does anyone here know whether 101 use IOSS when shipping to the EU?

Re: Ghostwatch, it is such a classic and I highly recommend it to anyone with any interest in TV horror. It basically became the British equivalent of Orson Welles' infamous radio broadcast of War of the Worlds.

I can't really decide whether to pre-order it or wait for reviews. I still have the original DVD release from BFI with some extras, but I am interested in the new documentary. On the other hand, I wonder how 101 will handle the video side of it.

They've been asked on FB, and while they won't confirm any tech specs yet, they have said this>

Fair to say we were conscious of retaining the live TV look as much as possible throughout the process.
So I'm hoping that means they've kept it an interlaced upscale. I'm guessing converted to 1080i60 since it's a dual territory release.

This was originally broadcast on my 21st birthday ( I was ill at the time), I watched 'Creepshow' on BBC 2 instead so I missed out on this. Looking forward to seeing it at last.

I was 14 at the time and remember the night well. Scared me quite a bit till the silly ending.
I just checked the TV listings for that night on the BBC listing archive.

BBC 1 Ghostwatch 09:25pm
BBC 2 Creepshow 11:25pm First network showing.

Incidentally the Ceefax listing for BBC2 that night was page 666!

Just look at the schedule for BBC2 that night! Tv just doesn't do this anymore. Worthy of note to those outside the UK - BBC has advert breaks whatsoever.

In the parlance of vintage British telly, a feature-length piece of fiction, even if shot entirely on film, was a play, while a one-off documentary, regardless of length, was a film.

So Scum, Penda’s Fen, Our Day Out etc = play

David Bailey’s documentary on Andy Warhol = film.

Makes no sense, but those were the rules as set by Did You See?,South Bank Show, Late Review etc…

In my experience from pre-ordering from 101 they ship new releases as soon as they have them in-hand so you'll likely get it earlier, as long as the post is on your side! Think I've had one or two a few weeks before official street date.

Pretty daft to release on Halloween (even if that's the anniversary). It should've had a release date of early October.

The US release was delayed to December 13th, so I wonder if the UK release will follow-suit as well.

It may well be delayed, but Zavvi are a law unto themselves.

It's to Going Live what OTT was to TISWAS. (anyone who gets that joke is showing their age).

I also have a memory of it being mentioned on GL that morning as well which made the whole thing scarier when it was shown later that day.

It was pretty obvious watching at the time that it was fiction as it had ghosts in it.

I dunno...most things I've seen with ghosts in them are comedies.
