Just watched this last night and really enjoyed it. I went in blind just going on good word, so at first it took me a second to get acclimated to the stylistic choices, but once I was in it was hard for me to get out. Can't wait for the UHD to come so I can watch it again!

Some people consider February still “early 2023”. So I don’t think we’ve past “early 2023” yet. Maybe some patience will pay off? They could be waiting on Rian Johnson who is probably a bit busy.

I’m not saying it’s past early 2023 yet, but there hasn’t been an official announcement, release date, or preorder yet so I have to imagine it will still be a month or two out by the time they even release more details. My understanding was also that this was struck from the previous 4K master they did for the original Kino Blu so I’m not sure what they would need from Rian at this point.

To approve an HDR grade. Per DGA rules, living directors (or at least giving their blessing/approval to someone such as the original still-living DP) are required to give approval to a home video master. It’s a main reason why Kino’s UHD for “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” took so long and how they’re waiting on William Friedkin to sign-off “To Live and Die in LA”.

Cry Baby is taking even longer. Especially when you have a living (and constantly working) director and cinematographer. |

At this point I just assumed it was cancelled or never announced to begin with until Kino puts up a pre-order and actually indicates a date. They did it with Night of the Hunter too but Cry-Baby was announced as a future title months and months ago so until it actually surfaces with any further information from Kino I just assumed it was in release limbo. All I hope is that when it comes it has both cuts and not just the single cut the blu-ray has.

Times Square took around two and a half years between announcement and release. Last edited by bergman864; 04-18-2023 at 12:54 PM. |

Kino must be working extra hard! I thought we would have disc in hand by now, let alone more details/release date. I wonder what happened here, the 4K master was already completed for the initial remastered Blu Ray so it’s odd it’s taking so long for this one.
