I have not watched any of the trailers it might have said this but when does take place i hope not on the same night as the 2018 and kills.

It does not. It’s four years later (which brings the movie current as it is taking place 4 years after 2018 in 2022).

I had to stop watching the final trailer. It revealed far too much. I hate when trailers do that. I got halfway and it already spoiled 3 deaths.
