![]() This is why it's never the best idea for TV shows to use licensed music as its theme song. Look at "Happy Days" for example. There's a reason why it changed its opening theme from "Rock Around the Clock" to its own "Happy Days" theme starting in Season 3. |

I'll most likely buy it as long as it's not an I Dream of Jeannie level cock-up, but there's no good option for the theme song. The replacement that sounds wrong, or the rerecording that sounds wrong. Pick yer poison.
And the fact that they had to get a shitty cover version of Drift Away to replace Dobie Gray's original during the death of The Flash still irks me. |

"In 2021, Cole recorded a new version of "I Don't Want to Wait" to avoid licensing issues with the original master, which Netflix restored as the theme song."

This is good news, I've rewatched the show a few times and loved it every time. It's just Dawson himself who annoys the crap out of me and I think the later seasons (2 and up) are a big improvement over the first season.
I know I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer the ''Run like Mad'' intro, it's more catchy to me. |

She was open for the song to be used in the intro, but the obtaining rights to the OG song was a bit convoluted, so they just went and used the 2016 re-recorded version of the song (which she fully owned).

I also wanted to add that I hope the music rights for the rest of the series are retained in the re-release. It would be a tragedy if even more songs got removed... Despite the original airings being eons ago, I still have vague memories of some tunes missing. There's already a website dedicated to outlining those changes, so I won't go over them here. However, the first run of DVDs for seasons 1 and 2 did have the original Paula Cole track in the intro, I'm lucky to have those in my collection. It was changed to Arden's song in seasons 3 through 6. The Series Finale standalone DVD had the Cole song on it though, I believe that's why I bought it, because of course the Arden track was on the 6th season DVDs. |

Yeah, I dont think Mill Creek did anything for Quantum Leap, either. Universal likely paid to restore the music, since the streaming versions are intact, and MC just got the rights to release them after Uni had already fixed things.

It was not just 4K. It was 4K with Dolby Vision and apart from the Netflix compression it looked absolutely fantastic, especially season 3 and onward. It was filmed in 16mm and therefore is very, very grainy. The Netflix compression had some issues with that. If Mill Creek does it's usual thing with putting way to many episodes on each disc, it could get problematic.
