Hasn't been confirmed though it's probably going to require an internet connection even in single player mode.

Only being allowed to play a game if you are connected online even when it has a completely offline component should genuinely be made illegal and no gamer should ever have to be subject to this. I know there's important political issues out there but this is something that should be enshrined in law because what happens once they pull the ability to connect to their online servers at all for verification at some point?

When they decide to shut down the servers, the game becomes completely unplayable. I mean, maybe on PC there'll be mods/hacks to make it playable, but don't expect that on consoles.

The game came out last night if you bought the Palace Edition so things like that are known. The single player and multiplayer are split from each other right down to having to make a different character for both and things like your cars don't carry over between modes so single player will be fine offline. There was some option about setting it to offline too when booting the game but I didn't pay attention to that since why would you want to if you don't have to?

Overall I have been enjoying it but that split is the one problem I have with it. Without all the random online players in free roam like you have on the multiplayer side and in games like Forza Horizon the world feels a lot emptier when playing the single player portion. Then if you do want to play both online and single player it is annoying that you have to buy a car you like twice, pay to upgrade it twice etc.

No way to switch the characters graphical art style? Cel shaded graphics with realism is just a terrible combination, imo.

Speaking of which, I'd love Killer7 remastered in HD or just brought back for new generations to appreciate what a damn awesome game that is.

You can turn off a lot of the car effects when customizing your car. However, that doesn't change the games overall art style.

Can the cutscenes be skipped or story mode be disabled? That would be cool.

NFS: The Run was a really fun racing game, but the dumb story cutscenes made me want to skip it (wasn't possible, I think).

I'd just rather they do linear story stages than force in a "human" story (same goes for NFS Unbound).

Thanks. They're trying to appeal to fans of Fast & Furious probably, and fans of real Street Racing. It's still better they play the video game than actually race on public streets, though I hear most times they race in the night morning hours when most people aren't on the streets. Not smart even so I imagine with cops on the prowl. But yes, it would be great if we could just skip all the story live action stuff completely.

8.0 on Metacritic so far from critics and fans. Not too many reviews though for some reason.

Game without the cartoony special effects actually looks really good and fun.

That being said, it's great that it can be turned on or off for those who prefer those effects. I'd turn them off.

I'll eventually buy this though since it's on current-gen consoles and not on last-gen then I'll wait a while longer. Gonna see if Sony releases a PS5 Slim.

I'm amazed that EA still won't allow us to remap the buttons in a NFS game, it puts me off using manual transmission but automatic is boring

Can't find any info on being playable offline.
Okay:
Online play optional
1 player
According to Sony's PSN website.... Which I don't trust but 1 player means it's playable offline.

69.99 though, I'll wait till it's 19.99≥*

Remapping would be nice, yes.
Along with an actual interior dash view.
NFS PS4 didn't even let me change the camera, it was 3rd person car view and that was it. Not even a FPV of the road. Not even a front hood view which is really cool too.

Really? This feels like a sequel of NFS 2015 and NFS Heat.

That's a good deal for a new game. I'll get this for 19.99 down the road probably. Or less. The map here looks nice.

For 6.99 on sale on PSN console store for a day or so more, I'm currently playing NFS Heat for PS4 offline on PS5 which is probably one of the better NFS games ever made with the ability to truly drive far off road, like something out of Test Drive Unlimited. You can drive through the forests if you want. I really like that aspect of freedom. No invisible walls nonsense or closed off railings. Only thing missing are motorcycles. The map is gigantic and based on realistic roads, not imaginary roads like in NFS Rivals for example, which are mostly just built for speeding.

Wow, Unbound NFS is down to 39.99 already. That was fast. Wasn't this game released only 2 weeks ago? No point buying a new game on release day during holidays with these insane price cuts.

I'm still working through the PS4 NFS Heat single player offline, which is surprisingly good for the open world being able to go fully offroad to explore with the cars, trucks at 6.99 when it was on sale last week on PSN store.

I hear NFS Unbound is confirmed to be single player offline too. Seems Ghost Games learned a lesson with NFS PS4 being online only.
