I guess I should have expected this one was coming, as Kino has been releasing quite a few Eastwood movies on 4KUHD lately. I would assume that Kino would want to release as much of Eastwood's filmography on 4KUHD as they possibly can. They have previous released The Eiger Sanction, Joe Kidd, Two Mules for Sister Sara and Coogan's Bluff on standard Blu-ray; I'm curious to see if Kino will try to get the 4KUHD rights to those movies as well. I would think all of those would be worthy 4KUHD releases.

Would like all those titles mentioned in 4K UHD. In order of preference:

The Eiger Sanction
Joe Kidd
Coogan's Bluff
Two Mules for Sister Sara

From Michael Cimino, the legendary director of The Deer Hunter, Heaven’s Gate and Year of the Dragon comes this bold, witty and tough crime-thriller starring screen icons Clint Eastwood (A Fistful of Dollars) and Jeff Bridges (Winter Kills) as a pair of modern-day outlaws. Thunderbolt (Eastwood) is a former thief whose razor-sharp wits and steely nerves made him a master of his profession, but he’s about to re-enter the criminal world with a new partner: Lightfoot (Bridges), a brash young drifter whose energy and exuberance give the veteran a new outlook on life. Their target: the seemingly impenetrable Montana Armored Depository. After forming an uneasy alliance with Thunderbolt’s former partners in crime, Red Leary (George Kennedy, Cool Hand Luke) and Eddie Goody (Geoffrey Lewis, High Plains Drifter), they launch an amazing scheme that will test the limits of their endurance, and the power of their friendship. Fueled by explosive action, fascinating characters and a powerfully moving climax, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is an adventure of the highest caliber and the directorial debut for Cimino, who also wrote the original screenplay. Wonderfully shot in Scope by Frank Stanley (The Eiger Sanction) and featuring an amazing supporting cast that includes Catherine Bach (The Midnight Man), Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon), Jack Dodson (The Getaway), Burton Gilliam (Gator), Roy Jenson (Framed), Bill McKinney (Deliverance), Vic Tayback (Bullitt), Dub Taylor (Junior Bonner) and Gregory Walcott (Prime Cut).

I’d honestly not seen that cover before. The 2 on the case yep, the slip no.

Kudos for Kino using original art but I just don’t like it.

The film is fantastic though so all good.

We called for this release a month before announcement on The Longest Yard thread. Ask and ye shall receive! Ya see .......The System Works!!! Actually kino was tardy by about 9 months by my count. Originally announced for early 2023. Maybe they were working on that slipcover.

Twilight Time used the same image for their first blu-ray release of the film.

I’m getting a Hal Holbrook vibe from Eastwood, and now I’m wondering what the alternate universe version of this movie would be like.

Kino summer sale on now. Pre order price is $26.57 for pre order titles but free shipping over $50. You guys know the drill. Good chance to pick up other 4k and blu ray at pretty good prices and get release day delivery of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. If you feelin it.
