Out of all the UK boutiques once BFI has been discounted, it does feel like an Indicator title.

I'm guessing Criterion hasn't released any UK exclusives? (ignoring their apparent current lack of interest in the UK market)

If it does turn out to be Indicator, I suppose what could've happened is Indicator sorted out a Paramount deal for the UK, but not the US as well, and Arrow secured the opposite, and they're both collaborating on the same titles for different territories (as is often happening for lots of HK titles). Or they're not collaborating and they're both just picking some of the same titles, as seems to be happening with 88 Films and Eureka on certain HK titles.

I only mentioned Radiance because Fran would've obviously been in negotiations with Paramount for Arrow, and maybe they weren't pursuing UK rights for some reason and he knew which titles might do well here. If that is the case, fingers crossed he got Black Sunday too (I like the film and was disappointed when it was US-only). Fighting Back looks good too, and I'm sure there are others.

I was wondering about Radiance for a couple of reasons: the first, as you say, Fran's involvement in securing the Paramount deal for Arrow, so he'd have connections there. Secondly, that 'British horror' mentioned for the UK. Now I'd say UW&Z is more thriller, but it could still be described as horror.

That said, if Radiance did have an arrangement with Paramount, I have to think the number of licenced titles would be a lot less than Arrow's deal for the US. As we well know, over here Paramount seem to licence things in very small batches (if at all).

I’ve never heard of this one but I just watched the trailer and it looks pretty bonkers. I’m all over it.

Ben's comments in the wake of today's announcement suggest he was referring to Arrow being the label in question, seemingly unaware they were not able to release it in the UK:

So it looks like the those in the UK interested in this will need to import.

Total shit that this film won't be released in the UK because Paramount - like the other studios - haven't got a clue! I'm lucky that I'm region free, so can buy it from America, but why did I become region free in the first place? Because of shit like this from the studios! No-one should be pushed out of buying a film because of the country they live in - it was bad enough in the DVD days but it still continues! I won't be surprised if they insist on it being region locked as well, even though they couldn't give a **** about releasing it over here! I hope they have an insider lurking here - if they do: you're shit, mate!

Well shit, this was the only one that piqued my interest out of the announcements so it was gutting it’s US only. I know someone mentioned BFI potentially releasing it but it sounds unlikely at the moment.

Time to invest in a region-selectable player.

This arrived courtesy of stackry yesterday and watched it last night; its still a powerful film, sitting in the same unclassifiable bucket of British cinema with the likes of ..if, Absolution and The Wicker Man, so if any of those appealed then I would strongly recommend investing in a region A-friendly player.

Haven't worked through all of the extras, but Matthew Sweet is his usual entertaining and informative self talking about the themes of the film and the way that it was resituated into the 1970s from the original late 50s radio drama (which is also available as another extra).

This makes the second Hemmings film released in the US without a UK BD release, this and Blow Up. Couldn't resist picking this up from WowHD.

I wonder what the chances are of the German market getting versions of stuff like this and The Desperate Hours. It seems so mad that there is a UK company releasing a UK film with all UK critics etc on the extras and booklet... but they aren't allowed to let UK audiences access it. It's not like there are competing products.

I ordered from the US store and they took my money yesterday, but I've just received a message saying there's a delay with shipping and they'll notify me when there's an update.

My first time ordering from the US store...

I see a few US based peeps already have it (understandable if they're shipping it direct from within the US), but that message now makes me think I'm going to see a cancellation notice at some point.

Another Brit here and I received the same message this morning. Not sure what the hold-up could be. I've ordered from the US site a few times and haven't previously had a problem. Fingers crossed 🤞.

That's good enough for me.

I just thought it was WAY too easy (log in with your existing UK account details, pay as normal, shipping to UK no problem, etc) and wondered if they had opened up these US releases to UK account holders by accident and never had any intention to sell direct to their UK customers.

Can anyone who has the disc confirm if this is actually region locked or region free? A few Arrow US releases have been handily region free (Loveless, Passion of Darkly Noon) so hoping this may be another one...
