I am on the fence about this movie.

It will feel weird if the original cast from the game won't portray their respective characters in the movie adaptation... by the way, who is going to play BB?

And then there is the pace of the movie, like some of you have said. It won't be Death Stranding is it turns out to be an action movie, or it won't have enough run time to tell the whole story. We will see.

I am also currently working with A24 on a live-action film adaptation of "DEATH STRANDING". When it comes to film adaptations of games, there have been recent films like "The Last of Us" that keep the plot of the original intact, and films like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue expression as a film. I am aiming to make "DEATH STRANDING" in a way that can only be done as a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.

However, in the future, the boundary between games and movies will disappear. And that is what I am aiming for myself. If the first phase of Kojima Productions was to create the IP "DEATH STRANDING" and deploy it on various devices, and to produce movies and sequels, the second phase is to create works in which the boundary between games and movies is as ambiguous as possible. For example, a game where people watching the screen from behind while playing the game will mistake it for a movie. By using the same assets and creators as the movie, we are planning to create such a work.
