Thank you! I hadn't thought of this as an option for better-quality versions, but it's not hard to beat the DVDs.

No, it's definitely not. That said, I think the transfers I've seen on a few torrents are noticeably better. Definitely worth a download if you're a fan. I'd say download a few individual episodes from a few different sources and see what you think.

I purchased a Sony 400-Disc Blu-ray Player from someone several years ago and along with the Blu-ray player they gave me all the TV show content they owned on DVD. This TV series was among them.

to answer your question, no it wouldn't benefit all that much from an HD release, not that it'd ever happen anyway

the show was videotaped and unless it was entirely reshot with HD cameras and such, the DVDs are your best bet

Is anyone actually wishing for this title at this point? At the very least Cosby probably is because he could use the revenue.

I originally posted this in the main section because, for whatever reason, this site has a placeholder page for a release, and I wanted to pin the discussion to that page. I don't wish to give him any money, but the number of victims who could sue him would probably trigger bankruptcy and prevent full compensation, so perhaps I can justify it that way...I'm really just waiting for Carsey-Werner to continue this as "The Huxtables" with some of the later babies having mysteriously vanished...

The Roseanne revival/The Conners ignored two babies, one of whom had existed for nearly half the original run. Supposedly that baby turned out to be part of the final season's lottery dream. It's strange what major things you have to ignore to bring something back the way people remember it.

Well it's not a remaster exactly, but someone recently posted an AI upscale of all 200+ episodes at the Internet Archive. You can find them if you search "thecosbyshow" as one word -- it's under "The Cosby Show Season X - 2023 Restoration". Most of the episodes I've tried look surprisingly good!

WOW!!! I almost can't believe that non-Hollywood software can do this now. Just from a first glance this blows that official 2013 remaster out of the water...and no annoying widescreen crop either! (One exception I already noticed was the theme songs, which were the only part of the show that were shot on actual film. The on-screen text is pretty fuzzy with the upscale.) These new videos are probably a little undercompressed given that just the Archive's previews look good enough at 5% of the file size but I'm glad to have the full versions too. Thank you so much for updating me on my old and very controversial post
