An individual making money rarely affects others. Corporations spreading like a virus affects nearly every business including the small businesses they kill off. They could use that money to fix up the theaters they already own. Or to actually have more staff. Opinions will Cary though.

What small businesses has AMC killed off lately? All I see is a clean, well run theatre that gives me a great value for my money with A-list.
I cannot remember the last time I saw a theater that was not corporate owned. Cinemark, Regal, Alamo none of them are mom and pop stuff. The funny thing is, we're all motivated by the dollar. I have a local liquor store one block from my house but I drive a mile to go to the Megalomart of Booze because everything is 35% cheaper. I'd like to support small business, but then reality intrudes. |

Pop quiz, hotshot: AMC's biggest global competitor with hundreds of locations in the USA files for bankruptcy. You now have the opportunity to buy the prime locations without having to buy the crappy ones, and the opportunity to buy the theaters from a motivated and bankrupt seller without having to buy Regal as a whole and assume Regal's debt.
What do you do, Jack? |

I understand the difference between Chapter 7 and Chapter 11. I also know how to spell bankruptcies and reorganization - look for the recommended spelling corrections in modern internet browsers. The longer Cineworld stays in Chapter 11, the greater the risk it turns to Chapter 7 as the $1.9 billion in debtor-in-possession financing racks up payments and debt holders start demanding assets. |
