I purchased the 3500 model and I have to say the 3d is very impressive. I have a 2017 LG G6 that I thought had the best 3d until I tried this projector. This, by the way, is my first projector. I was a little hesitant about going back to shutter glasses because the Samsung tv I had years ago had lots of ghosting. Zero of that with this projector. I'm currently waiting for the update of enhanced black levels and 24fps. Apparently Dolby vision will.also be coming soon. Awol is well worth the money!

Passive and active glasses are exactly the same quality on a DLP projector. Most DLP projectors under $20,000 use active glasses instead of passive since it is cheaper to make a projector with active glasses. In some professional commercial theaters in the world active shutter glasses are used at 144fps (72fps each eye) and they offer the exact same performance as passive glasses. The reason why all or most the theaters in the United States use passive glasses, is because the glasses are much cheaper when compared to active glasses (plus passive glasses use no batteries to recharge). When it comes to returning the glasses to the theater, the theater prefers to use passive glasses since a deposit would need to be placed on the active glasses to make sure they are returned.

Any thoughts from anyone on the picture difference in practice between the 2500 and 3500. I am trying to decide if the extra 1000 lumens justifies the $2000 price difference. I currently own the regular Vava 4K. How does the brightness compare to that?

I do prefer the LTV-3500 mainly because of the higher contrast ratio that gives the images more depth and detail. Also 3D is brighter and also has more depth and detail.

This is in addition to the benefits of the higher peak luminance, e.g. performs better in rooms with ambient light and has better HDR performance.

The LTV-2500 is on sale for $2,299 and the LTV-3500 is $4,899.

awol is adding 2 "new" models called PRO

LTV-2500 Pro

We are about to release this new model in April 2023. By equipping the unit witha higher tier laser engine, this new model will achieve 2600 ANSI Lumens. The price for this unit will be $3,999. All the features and functions are the same as the LTV-2500 (March 2023 Version).

Note:This model can’t be upgraded from the LTV-2500 as it is a change in hardware.

LTV-3500 Pro

A new feature, PJLink IP control protocol, will be included in this model. It enables integration with smart home systems such as Control 4, SAVANT and Crestron System. It will be available in April 2023.

Note:This model is only available through AWOL Vision authorized integrator. It won’t be available to purchase online or in retail stores. Please contact support@awolvision.com to find out where to purchase it.

The new PRO series will also have the FILMMAKER picture mode added.

We're factory direct AWOL authorized integrator so we'll have the new LTV-3500PRO and LTV-2500PRO on display in our new suite of Cinema demo rooms.

Robert, it use to cost over $100,000+ to get a DLP projector with native 4K DMD imaging chip without pixel shifting. A new low cost 4K DMD chip has been developed that should start appearing on native 4K projectors by the year 2026+ with the first models costing around $25,000-$30,000. And maybe cheaper DLP projectors in the future. Hopefully AWOL and others will offer a higher end projector for $30,000+ that uses this new 4K DMD imaging chip along with keeping their under $5,000 projectors as entry level models.

While I am not a fan of pixel shifting and prefer native 4K DMD imaging chips. Its amazing these ultra short throw projectors can be placed as close as 6 inches away from the wall and as far as 20 inches away from the wall. I always thought ultra short throw projectors were always being placed on a low height tabletop stand in the front of the room, however I was just reading that some Ultra Short Throw projectors can also be mounted on the ceiling between 6 to 20 inches away. Personally if I was going to mount a projector on the ceiling then I would prefer a long throw ceiling mounted projector in the back of the room or middle of the room. So far I have not seen any retail store mounting a Ultra Short Throw projector on the ceiling. Perhaps Robert could step in and mention if Value Electronics has any ceiling mounted Ultra Short Throw projectors in the demo rooms on the ceiling or in customer installations. Most likely almost all Ultra Short Throw projector installations will be on a table top stand in the front of the room and almost all long throw projector installations will be mounted on the ceiling in the back or middle of the room.

Quote from page 11 of the September/October 2023 Widescreen Review magazine article

“AWOL Vision notes that its UST Projectors can project screen sizes from 92 inches to 150 inches, and the products can be placed as close as 6 inches to 20 inches away from the screen, including ceiling mounting scenarios.”

We’ve made great progress on developing Dolby Vision. We will have good news to share with you in detail in the following weeks. It will be upgradable through firmware over the internet. Any AWOL Vision model purchased before or now will be capable of updating once it is released.

This is good news that AWOL will be the worlds first Ultra Short Throw DLP projector with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR. Just need to connect the projector up with wired RJ45 ethernet or WI-FI to get the Dolby Vision HDR firmware update. Now they just need to start making some newer models with native 4K light engines instead of native 2K light engines using pixel shifting.

Is the update supposed to take so many hours to download? Mine has been at it for about 6 hours.

When I tried the download, it remained at 0% for the longest time. I called customer service and was told several downloads at once are creating the issue. I tried later after 10 pm and it downloaded quickly. Hope this helps!

Yeah, it took a really long time, but finally finished sometime this morning. Finally good to go and it’s looking really good.

Yes we have ceiling mounted several UST projectors at clients homes.

As you said most are placed on cabinets in just below the front of the screen. We have also built wall mounted shelves just below the screen.

So happy to see AWOL extend the "Free Screen" of choice with the purchase of the new LTV-3000 Pro or LTV-3500 Pro to make their UST Projector a complete Projection systems with no extra costs.

We jumped in and purchased LTV-3000 Pro & LTV-3500 Pro with the 100" and 120" motorized floor rising screens so we can display & demonstrate AWOL's new Pro series in our 2 A/V Showrooms.
