Though it may be that it 'leaked' first? Snow White could have an earlier street date. No dates were mentioned. It took more than a year when the WB Christmas movies were leaked. You never know (but it probably is first even though Snow White (movie) was first; Cinderella (the woman) is the first Princess most little girls think of)). We will see.

If true, I'm going to guess part of the 100 Years anniversary thing, so here's hoping it's going to be part of all that and they'll use a new master and not the controversial master used for the Blu. I wonder what else might be looming out there...Cindy is perennially popular, Sleeping Beauty a wowzer for home gear. Fantasia's "wall of mud" audio removing the idiosyncratic hard pans for a traditional front-stage approach is a disappointment, really wish they'd use the audio mix heard on the 60th anniversary DVD version based on Terry Porter's "FantaSound 90" version. Nothing can really be done about Deems Taylor's missing dialog from the Roadshow.

But regardless what comes, the big question is if the films will receive new masters, or stick with what they have and upscale them to 4K...if The Black Cauldron and The Sword in the Stone could get new masters for Disney+, can't see what rationale they'd have for not making new masters for the Golden and Silver Age features.

I would love 4K UHDs of The Black Cauldron and The Sword in the Stine as well.
However, I would be most happy if Disney decides to work with Criterion or Kino Lorber on 4K UHD releases of Song of the South and Kundun.
Song of the South with none of Disney’s standard DNR (and getting a digital home video release for the first time) and Kundun getting a 4K restoration supervised by Roger Deakins and Martin Scorsese would be amazing.

The Roadshow cut is inferior, anyway, the missing dialogue outright spoils the segments before they begins. The abridged versions actually do more by saying less, with having less or no spoilers. Just a proper introduction to the segments.
Also, the 60th Anniversary DVD’s mix is still neutered compared to the LaserDisc’s Dolby Stereo mix (which was based on the Fantasound 90 mix too, and it has the original Deems Taylor dialogue to boot).

If Disney could make a proper 4K restoration of the general release cut (with Sunflower restored alongside a newly-added added trigger warning just in case) with the Fantasound 90 mix in Atmos with no neutering, and of course, no DNR. It would be my dream 4K release from Disney.

Sunflower is never coming back, there aren't enough trigger warnings. Fantasia in its most current form on Disney+ still contains a content advisory for negative depictions of people and/or cultures, and I can only assume they're referring to the Chinese Dance sequence of the Nutcracker Suite.

As for FantaSound '90, I'm referring to the special screenings which only appeared in Los Angeles and New York City, while the rest of the nation had F/C/L and matrixed mono surround rear. The DVD uses discrete 5.1 dts audio and is closer to those two "FantaSound '90" presentations. As for the LD (which I own...that giant CAV box release, no less), it wouldn't be the first LD to have a bit more "oomph" for lack of a better word, but it also has mono matrixed surround compared to the 5.1 DVD. We can both agree, I think, the Blu-Ray audio is a massive disappointment, trying to make Fantasia's historically eccentric use of audio pans "safe". I never play it, the 2000 DVD from the Fantasia Anthology is my go-to. The reason it has an attempt of re-creating the original 1940 release with the intermission and lack of credits is no doubt due to the wishes of Roy Disney, Jr. I would have been fine with the 1947 trimmed version, too, but I get what he was wanting to do. Fantasia was his favorite and he said he thought it was the best film Walt ever did because it was such an assertion of animation as art form, so he was partial to it, and I surmise accepting of the missing Deems Taylor audio trims a compromise.

Ideally, they would create an Ultimate Edition that has the intermission, the trimmed narration (with the original Deems Taylor voice), the credits, the uncut Pastoral scene (maybe with Sunflower digitally removed, unless Disney is willing to outsource this release to Criterion), and the Fantasound ‘90 mix in a Dolby Atmos container.

I already heard from two different reviewers (JelloApocalypse and The Mysterious Mr. Enter) complain about how the uncut intros spoil the segments.

Also, it would be great if Disney continued making new Fantasia movies, even if they’re usually doomed to fail at the box office.
Disney can just make them for Disney+, with limited theatrical runs and an eventual home video release (like they did for Soul, Luca, and Turning Red).

The full interstitials come across like hand-holding...generally speaking, you don't tell an audience what they're going to see like they need it explained to them, the most egregious for modern audiences is probably The Rite of Spring and the depiction of evolution...but putting things in some sort of historical context, the Scopes Monkey Trial was in 1925, just 15 years before Fantasia debuted, so the over-explaining it can be forgiven. You know what I think is a bit worse? Cecil B. DeMille's Fantasia-esque into to his Ten Commandments, where he comes out on stage and explains what the meaning of the film's story is from the viewpoint of the 50's. Opening text and narration is fine to a point as long as it sets the stage for the audience, but actually telling an audience what the meaning of a story is borders on the risible.

Regarding on Fantasia, do what Ernest Rister suggest; include multiple cuts that also includes a family-friendly version that removes the Sunflower scene and for the version(s) that do(es), include a disclaimer or an intro at the beginning. That way everybody gets what they want, parents can show their kids the said version and be warned of the others, everyone wins.

Through Disney or Criterion, though I still strongly suggest that Disney consider making a deal with the latter. WALL-E has proven such a deal can be successful.

Good idea. And then find a way to release SONG OF THE SOUTH.

Criterion should do the three lost Disney films:
- Fantasia with the abridged narrations/original audio and the uncut Pastoral sequence
- Song of the South
- Martin Scorsese's Kundun

If it shows the glass slippers, I hope they have hearts instead of bows.

I also hope that iTunes and Movies Anywhere will add bonus features from the Platinum Edition DVD, although none of this sounds as important as improving the picture quality.

Disney Cinderella 4K UHD (1950)

Disney's Cinderella will be released on 4K. It seems like it's a DMC exclusive though.

Release Date: March 28th, 2023.
