Haha, again, not going to happen. If anything this thread will be mainly used to see what's coming out. If anyone wants to browse what's already come out, they can do that too. It's pretty much how I have the Japanese film thread.

Watched the new release of Millionaire's Express from Arrow. I haven't watched this since I bought the Dragon Dynasty DVD, but this is a fun film, but it's a comedy first and foremost. Very little martial arts, and it's mostly regulated towards the end. I would say the biggest flaw is that there are too many characters and it's hard to relate to any when the film is jumping around a bit too often. Some characters disappear for long periods of time, but even with that, I was still entertained and enjoyed the film overall.

Just added it. I created a new section listed as Coming Soon for titles that don't have a set in stone street date.

Run and Kill and Red to Kill are good by exploitation standards, but Fatal Termination is crap (and someone probably should've been arrested for that stunt with the little girl).

Yeah, I'll add those once they have covers on the database as nothing will show up if I just list them now.

With how many HK films are being released right now, I'm really wondering when WAC will start releasing some of the nearly 200 or so Golden Harvest titles they have. Pedicab Driver is one that is a must.

Okay, so...grain of salt here, but a rumor has hit my ears today that Criterion has licensed Pedicab Drive and the Blade from WB for a release this year as well as Eastern Condors.

But the people who claimed this on a Facebook fan page I belong to did not cite their sources so I have not been able to verify this as being true or not.

So, I'm not jumping for joy just yet but it'd be great if true.

Those all would be amazing. I've heard Eastern Condors as well, and I hope they happen. If they are with Criterion though, who knows how long it could day. They also have The Heroic Trio/Executioners and toured them, so I figured those would have come out already.

Either way, I do hope what you found out turns out to true.

I know I would, One of the main reasons I chose not to go region free was I view the WB Golden harvest catalog as being the final boss that can only be defeated by supporting every U.S. HK release until WB cries tears of blood from not making money off the hoard they are sitting on like a dragon.

I’m region free & I still buy almost every U.S. Hong Kong release I can get my hands on, even if it means the occasional double dip on some favorites.

I haven`t seen list of what they have but one I would really want is Terracotta Warrior. I saw it in cinema "back then" and it`s beaufifully directed. It`s not that action packed but what there is, is decent. Zhang Yimou and Gong Li do great as leads.

Would probably upgrade PD even as dvd is pretty good and expensive to order blurays from USA to Finland.

Watched Zu Warriors from Magic Mountain last night. As others have mentioned, the film is FAST. If you miss a minute or two, you might have just missed a lot. It's a fun film with a lot of heart and genuine characters. It's Wuxia mixed in with a lot of fantastical elements, but I enjoyed it. Picture quality was top notch, I just wish I could change the audio options mid movie instead of having to go to main screen to do it.

Going to watch the new release of Iron Monkey tonight. First time seeing the HK original cut.

Glad you enjoyed it, it’s definitely a film that gets confusing VERY fast if you’re not paying attention. I’ve seen it twice and I’m still not sure I fully understand it, but it’s definitely fun.

Also enjoy Iron Monkey! The HK cut is much better than the American one, I think only a few things were cut but at least one is a major piece of character backstory. Also getting to hear the original score with the Wong Fei-Hung theme is great, I think they removed it in the west cause they thought nobody would know what it even was. Which is fair, at the time of release I’d never seen a Wong Fe-Hung film. But it definitely has much more impact for me now.

You said you'd include Taiwanese films too, Epic films is releasing the kaiju-inspired movie "The Lake" on June 13th.

Couple of things. 88 Films will be releasing Magic Cop and Taxi Hunter on June 13th.

Also watched two of the films from Made in Hong Kong Volume 1. Watched Deadly Camp and Erotic Nightmare and enjoyed both of them. Deadly Camp is like a HK production of Friday the 13th, but with less gore. Still, it was a fun film despite feeling very cheap. Erotic Nightmare was like a sexual Nightmare on Elm Street or Dreamscape. Lots of sex and perverted dreams with a few decent kills. I didn't like that a certain character gets taken out 2/3 of the way through the film, but still actually enjoyed it. Now to watch The Demon's Baby.

Never heard of The Lake, Magic Coo or Taxi Hunter but I’ll have to keep my eyes on them. I still have to watch my Made in Hong Kong set but it’s always great to read your thoughts on Asian films since a lot of the time I find we have more or less the same tastes. There’s so many Hong Kong films I have on DVD that I picked up from a long gone video store in China Town that I’d love to see get a BD release but probably won’t.

Hold the presses! I just watched The Demon's Baby in the made in Hong Kong set and honestly I can't believe how much I loved this one! One of the better HK films I've seen in years. It has comedy, violence, and pretty much everything you would want from a film like this. It has a lot of Evil Dead II vibes, and in the end I honestly felt like it was one of the more entertaining films I've seen in a bit. While it takes a while to get to where it needs to go, once it gets there, everything goes out of control. I didn't know this film existed until VS announced it, but man I'm glad they released it. This one was great.
