This movie changed everything. How?

• It saved RKO from being bankrupt and becoming a relic of old Hollywood. They went on to distribute Citizen Kane and Snow White. Sure, there could have been other distributors but highly unlikely we'd get the films we eventually got.

• First "talkie" to have a fully composed score.

• First live action feature to have an animated character as its central figure.

• Got Peter Jackson into filmmaking, giving us the Lord of the Rings trilogy we know today, when it's considered "unfilmable" at the time. And it's success brought us the modern day blockbusters.

• Influenced Godzilla, thus kickstarting the kaiju genre.

• Influenced Donkey Kong, which had a character named Mario, who'd later have his own game that pretty much saved the gaming industry and the reason we still play games now.

We'd live in a very different would without Kong.

In my top ten favorite movies of all time - AFI Silver is showing this next month - gonna revisit it on the big screen

Have loved this film since childhood. Has aged very well, as ven like the different versions that's came out. Not taking anything away from the original, Peter Jackson's film is my favorite.

One of my favorite movies. The New York premiere was on March 2nd but the proper release was on April 7th.
