Delay the release, I can wait.
I replied to the Kino Insider in the main thread giving them the pertinent details -

You would think that a label that well renowned would at least do their research before putting out a movie.

Since the release date has been announced it's probably too late to include the unrated version. I doubt Kino would delay the release to include the second cut.

I had heard a lot of good things about this, so I finally watched it about 2 years ago (no idea which cut I watched). I'm happy for the fans that this is getting released. Unless this isn't the cut that most fans want. In that case, I'm perturbed.

As someone who hasn't seen any cut of this film, is the longer cut much better than the R-Rated cut?

Hard for me to say because being in Europe, i've only ever watched the full version. The R-Rated is pretty much exclusive to the USA. From all i've read though, the cuts are designed to shove the movie along at a much faster pace. Mostly comprised of numerous smaller edits (i.e. shortened and removed shots) although a couple of sub-plots have also been entirely excised. Unfortunately some edits have been made to action/violence too.

You can actually read the lengthy list of differences here. I wouldn't read the latter part though, so as to avoid spoilers . But just reading the first dozen or so will give you a pretty good idea of what they've done to shorten the movie, without ruining any future viewings -

I only know the european cut of the movie and that always felt too long and slow so maybe I will prefer the tighter US cut.
Of course Kino should include both cuts if it's possible.

Always wanted to see this one. Evolver is another killer machine movie I'd love to see on blu. It's such a fun film that I try to watch every so often. Unfortunately, it sounds like Arcade from Full Moon may not have the source elements for a blu. That was one of my favorites growing up.

Some potentially good news -

We're looking into including the longer cut of DEATH MACHINE, so the release is now tentatively moved from November to December.

Awesome! If they could get a Stephen Norrington commentary, that would be incredible.

Regarding this vs Hardware, I much prefer Death Machine. It's essentially a sci-fi action flick that punches way, way above its weight when it comes to production design and visuals. It has a certain look that taps into the early 90s cyberpunk & sci-fi anime aesthetic that few other live action movies ever captured. Its main issue is its slow pace. Meanwhile, I find Hardware to be interesting but also artsy w*****y. Not a big fan of its trash heap aesthetic either, which was very common in 80s and early 90s cheap scifi.

I'm quite fond of the trash heap aesthetic but production quirks like that do make me chuckle. Like how most low/medium (even some high) budget action movies always filmed their climactic showdown in an abandoned warehouse.... or at the docks...... or in an abandoned warehouse at the docks

Hardware is like a mad robot going haywire in an apartment
Death Machine is like a mad robot going haywire in a building
I'm looking forward to a movie about a mad robot going haywire in a neighborhood
Of course that needs a sequel where a mad robot is going haywire in a town.

And before you know it there will be a franchise of mad robots going haywire in a city or state, or countries... or... The World!

The Kino Lorber Insider has indicated that this won't be coming out in December as they are still working on it. That was initially somewhat disappointing to hear, but I'm really hoping it means we will be getting the longer cut of the film after all.

This is excellent news IMO. The longer cut has gotta be the reason. It’s just gotta!
