Indeed. They should definitely remaster the open matte version and include as an extra. The chances of that? Somewhere between slim and none

This and Christmas Vacation are my two favorites of the bunch, so I'm stoked to have them both in 4K. Original audio would be most excellent. So would original art, but I reckon that's a pipe dream (and unfortunately all of the Blu art that exists is hideous so I can't create my own custom set like I've done with several WB releases).

I hear ya, another great example is WB’s Swing Shift. You get a good eyeful of Ed Harris on open matte / full frame LaserDisc & VHS

Love this movie for 38 years since i was 4 when i watched it with my dad on video and one of my fave comedies.

I knew since Christmas came out on 4K that the first will come to 4K and i'm happy.

Stuff I'm hoping are finally restored:

The original Warner opening logo.
The original soundtrack. The Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited" originally played during Clark Griswold's first and third encounters with Christie Brinkley. At some point, both instances were replaced with June Pointer's "Little Boy Sweet". The first VHS and TV version had the original soundtrack. On the blu-ray, the foreign dubs (German and Spanish) have the original soundtrack.
- Clark Griswold's second encounter with Christie Brinkley (when they are eating lunch at the rest area) has always been accompanied by June Pointer's "Little Boy Sweet" so that doesn't need fixing.

I don’t think the original song will be restored. More likely it’ll stay the way it has been since the days of VHS. If it is restored then it’s a win.

Haha, for similar reasons, I've always wished for at least a 1080p of open-matte versions be included sometime. I wonder if they even keep the entire frame when remastering the classics, in case future television reverts back to 4:3 or something

Yeah and in the shower scene you can see Beverly D'Angelo is wearing underwear in the shower.
