Hopefully it will have the Hong Kong cut, but even if doesn't I will still probably buy it since I don't currently own the film on any format.

It'll be interesting to see how 'special' the SE turns out to be.

While the debate and speculation rumbles on, the Star Entertainment VCD I have will have to suffice (with much better cover art than the Western release IMO).

I'll bet that this is going to be a version with absolutely no HK-cut and dogshit PQ. Christ how I want to be wrong with both counts with this one, but honestly, I highly doubt it.

If anyone wants to receive my newly created HD "reconstruction" of the uncut version of this film, PM me.

I combined the US blu-ray with the HK laserdisc, restoring EVERY frame.

With the help of Google translate, I translated the Chinese subtitles from the Malaysian VCD and the Taiwanese DVD to get a very accurate translation of the Cantonese dialog. I also translated both the Cantonese and Mandarin theme songs pretty well.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm probably in the minority here but I actually prefer the international cut version over the original HK Cut, which surprised me. Either way I hope this new disc includes both cuts so people can easily access them and pick their favourite.

At the end of the day, having the option is the most important part. I've always said that I'm perfectly fine with later/alternate cuts of films that differ from the original *as long as* the original cut is maintained. Warner got it right with Mr. Nice Guy, let's see if they can finally do it again.

On the other hand I think we know full well that if a release didn't have the Miramax cuts, many people will fall over themselves to say that's fine because they're appatently worthless, etc.

The BBFC have now reclassified the rating for RITB for this new release. Unfortunately only for the cut version it seems.

Fingers crossed for both cuts like Mr Nice Guy, but keeping expectations low as they haven't really said anything about this release so far.

Also guessing the Drunken Master 2 HMV Edition will be the same as the last US releases, which was at least uncut but not much else in terms of extras.

Releasing it under the 'Cine' line and charging a tenner more for what is expected to be the cut version with added paper material?

I'll wait to see what else is announced about this release before deciding to purchase...

Default Rumble in the Bronx: Cine Edition (HMV Exclusive)

Rumble in the Bronx: Cine Edition (hmv Exclusive)

At various times in Rumble in the Bronx, Jackie Chan is set upon by a sneering wolfpack, has an entire grocery mart smashed down round his ears, is dragged through a river like a wounded duck and is flattened like roadkill by an enormous, rampaging amphibious vehicle. Which means that our mirthful hero has everyone and everything right where he wants them. Chan plays Keung, a Hong Kong cop visiting New York City, in this impish comedy /adventure that plunges the lawman into a high testosterone feud over $7 milion in diamonds. "Something's always happening here," Keung's uncle says while showing him the neighbourhood. He's got that right.

So all the tat raises the price from £15 of a regular WAC title to £25.
Happy to wait for discount or if reissued without the tat at the regular price.

I understand that that it would be nice to have both versions, but ìve always far preferred the international cut. Unlike Mr Nice Guy, the HK cut feels like it drags and I'd probablynot watch it more than once. I'm just happy I won't have to settle with that horribly washed out Studiocanal release.

Anatomy of an action hero, a truly valuable addition to this release....

On another note, what's so amazing about the chapter select?

It allows you to skip directly to a chapter.

I used to laugh when I saw "chapter select" listed as a special feature on DVDs but I'm not laughing now that we have boutique labels happily ignoring that feature on Blu-ray.

The fact that most Blu-Ray discs don't start where I left off annoys me even more, especially for series.
